Great container for kimchee

My kimchi came out bad but that's on me! As a fermented food, it's important for the kimchi to have access to air. It's heavy when it's done, too. So this container has a very sturdy latch and handle, but leaves room to breathe. The recipes I looked at encourage the cook to squish the kimchi down from time to time to get the bubbles out, and the thingy on top helps with that. I also made kimchi fried rice (this hid my sins and still tasted outstanding) and that calls for kimchi juice, like a lot of other Korean recipes. The grate also helps for pouring kimchi juice when you want it. You wouldn't want it for anything but kimchi, but for kimchi you wouldn't want anything else but this or a purpose-made clay onggi. Other sizes are available.

This sealed very well bit the divider did not stay put. Kept falling in. All in all I like it

Been using this to make pickled garlic and I absolutely love it. It works super well to help submerge the things you are pickling. Might buy more because of how perfect these are.One warning is that when you remove the plunger, its very tight, so go slow or you might splash your pickling liquid all over yourself.

It’s nice to have an attractive, dedicated kimchi container. It doesnt leak liquid but the smell gets through and depending on the kimchi age will stink up my fridge. Get the baking soda ready.

The container is perfect for making pickles.

I thought 4.5 liters would be a bit larger than this container, however, I like that I don't have to worry about metal springs coming into contact with my pickles. Some of the twist-down pickle presses appear to have a metal spring that might contaminate your food.
