Fun Game! It is enjoyable with children and adults playing together. It is easy to learn and a nice change from regular card games.

Fun fun fun. Grandpa beck games are awesome .we have not met one we didn't like! We were playing with my 3 daughters aged 10-16. We liked it so.well we got 2 more decks. With 4 of us it seemed a bit thin. Not hard to learn. Doesn't take too lomg to play. We started off with cover your assets (we double deck that one also) it can kinda get lomg for.littlrs that have a hard time holding still but anyway this is our 3rd grandpa beck game and they don't disappoint. I honestly think 5 and up could play this after a few rounds and having an older kid to read directions or they could watch a video

At first, the rules sound complicated and the QR-linked video didn't help a lot. So, we slogged through the first game, consulting rules when we couldn't remember what was allowed. After that first slow game, it's easy and fun and we enjoy it a lot. Like other Grandpa Beck games, lovely cards and well made. So, if you get the game, don't give up until you've played it a couple of times - you'll be addicted!

I am a big fan of Grampa Beck's games and have a number of them in my collection including Cover Your Assets, Cover Your Cookies and Cover Your Kingdom. Toil and Troublez is a fun game but does have a bit more complicated rules.The game, at it's heart, is a push your luck set collection game. I found that it was easier to watch the How to Play video. The instructions aren't too long, but there are a lot of restrictions on how and where you can place and play cards and watching the video made it very clear. We were able to play without referring to the rules after a few playthroughs of the game though. You are trying to collect different cards into sets, either four of the same talisman cards, or one of each of five talisman, to score points. You can make your turn as long as you want providing you can play a card each time you draw. If you continue, but can't play a card your turn is over. You may have gotten the cards you wanted, or you may have set another player up to get them if your luck turns and that's the fun of the game.The cards are average weight cardstock but the artwork is colorful and very thematic, just like all of Grandpa Beck's games. I plan on sleeving them to protect them from wear and tear.Overall, we liked this game. It was a fun game that is quick to play taking under a half hour. It will take you a bit longer the first few times until you get the hang of the placement rules and different cards. Grandpa Beck always comes out with fun, family games that are simple to learn but fun enough that you will bring them to the table over and over. Toil and Troublez is no exception. At $17, you are definitely getting your value of fun.

This is a fun game that is easy to learn. It small enough in size that we have been able to take it on trips and to other people houses easily. I do think it is most fun when you play in a group of 3 or more.

We have several Grandpa Beck’s games and love them. We received this as a gift. It took us a little longer to learn than Cover Your Assets but now that we all get it, it’s easily one of our family favorites! So so fun and well made too!
