My reaction is YES. I have a set of two and you put the ball into one and hold the other ring below, as the ball goes into the second one you move the first one to the bottom- for as long as you like!!! It’s quite addictive! Good luck.

Q: What is this thing for?

Simon this thing is for experiencing an absolutely amazing scientific display of Lenz law and eddy currents that are produced.by a very strong magnet passing through a good conducter of electricity such as copper and aluminum. As most know a magnet only sticks to iron or steel so when you see the super strong magnetic ball fall very slowly thru the copper tube you immediately should be in awe this is happening. It's as close to real magic as it gets. The ball is pretty heavy for it size so to see it floating suspended down the center of the tube and it never touches the sides if you hold it straight. Just pushing it back up into the tube you feel a strong resistance on your fingers. Trust me you will be amazed when you drop it down the rabbit hole the first time. It's educational and entertaining not just a toy. Get one you will see something most people have never seen happen before it's magical!Richard AKA MrWizard

I don’t get it

Really beautifully made. My son wanted this for Christmas. I didn’t fully understand why he wanted one and I’m still not sure why he wanted one but he seems to like it. Expensive seen as it doesn’t really do anything.

Well made, just be careful with the neodymium ball bearing. The box had already been opened and repacked badly (possibly a returned item).

The product does have a cool factor but that lasts the whole of 5 seconds when you realise you've just paid £60 for a magnet ball and some copper tube
