The locking mechanism doesn’t always connect. But a little jiggery pockery and it locks. Otherwise worth the cost and it may just be a one off problem.

A neat enough container for keeping older (foolscap) documents (and there is not a lot of choice when it comes to Foolscap as opposed to A4) from prying eyes. The lid is a fairly loose fit but it works ok. The five supplied file suspension slings are decent enough quality but you probably will need to add a pack extra slings (The box will comfortably take 10/12 - obviously dependent on the thickness of the files stored) Not by any means a high security box. A determined intruder would force it open in no time and the keys are little more than flat tin latches, but it is secure enough to deter the opportunist snooper. Indentations in the lid and base are a neat touch to enable secure stacking. Ideal for my purposes and I have just ordered a second one. If you want more 'safe'-like security go elsewhere and spend lots more!Update 9 August 2015 - second case arrived quick delivery even on the free service. and no problems at all

Am I no longer allowed to return this order? I have not used it yet due to House removals and I find it opens as soon as I lift by the handle, it does not stay shut. Please, please will you let me return this product, I cannot keep going through all this again.

This is without doubt the worst piece of junk I have ever bought on Amazon. It will make you hate document storage. It's so cheaply made, the lid opens if you slightly shake it. If you shake it vigorously when locked, it will open. The "lock", by the way, is an absolute joke. A 3 year old with a blunt penknife could open it. The plastic tabs for categorising documents are cheap and fall off the folders all the time. Frankly, you'd be better off with a reasonably sturdy cardboard box. Do not buy this.

So when you first get it, it comes in see-through plastic and has it's keys inside the box. It comes with the foolcaps and clips and generally, it hold what it's designed to hold.The problems start with the hinges, they seem off, so the lid ends up a little wonky, you have to kind of push one side of the lid and the opposide side of the box then turn the lock to lock the actual box.Keep in mind this is not an expensive product, though.Once locked, I don't see the lock coming undone very easy, but the hinge attachment is visible on the outside of the box. if you are concerned about the security of your documents, go get a more expensive filing cabinet.Lost the fist star because the locking mechanism being just odd. Lost the other star because although the structure is sound, there are still visible problems which could've been sorted out during the building of the product. Just seems like someone in production said "meh, it'll do whatever" without looking at it twice.
