Q: This absolutely works on powering my 19v tv but from a regular car battery with a multimeter hooked up its drains really fast is that normal?

So at the 12vdc draw, this unit at 5 amps should pull about 60 watts, plus add an additional 25% power transformation loss, should pull about 75 total watts give or take a 12vdc. So a full size pickup battery with about 750AH should run this inverter 10 hours in a perfect world, from a full charged battery to dead.

What gauge are the wires. if the output is 240watts. then the input (12v) should be pushing about 20amps which requires 12awg wire. or am i wrong?
