QuirkyPluck Yolk Extractor

I love this egg yolk extractor. It is as quirky as the company that makes it.It is made of two pieces: a white rubber top shaped like an egg (because it's an egg extractor, get it, get it?), and a clear hard plastic bottom piece, which fit together. Young children, or anyone, can easily recognize its intended use solely from its design.Using it is simple:• Crack an egg into a bowl.• Place extractor directly on top of the yellow yolk, and squeeze carefully to suction the yolk inside. Use the clear end to "cut" and separate it from the clear part (whites).• Squeeze again to extract the yolk onto whatever bowl/dish you're preparing.That's it. If you are between eggs, it is flat on the white side so you can place it on the counter without getting the opening dirty, while you get your next egg—brilliant. To clean, take the two pieces apart and hand wash them; wash them right away to prevent anything drying up inside the white upper piece. If there should happen to be dried up egg in it, you can use your finger to rub it off under running water.This is a great yolk extractor. It's cute, simple, and effective. Recommended.

It does exactly what it says it does. You squeeze it, put the hole on the egg yolk, let go, and the yolk gets sucked up into the thing.Pros1. Works as intended.2. Cheap3. Wasn't broken, scuffed, or anything. Brand new condition.Cons1. I mean, it doesn't have amazing build quality, but it's $6 and I wasn't expecting gold plating or anything.Would recommend 100%. A good, cheap, small kitchen utility that gets the yolks out quickly.

Bought this for the lady that works in my companies cafeteria. I order egg whites almost every morning as does a few other people I eat with. We got sick of making her do the extra work so grabbed one of these. I used it once at home and broke one of out 6 yolks so I figured it was okay but not amazing.It might have just been me though as she has been using it for close to a month now and raves about it at least twice a week.If I get another for home ill get one of these because of how enthusiastic she is about it.

This actually works very well. Granted it's easy to separate a yolk from the white in other ways. However this has an added advantage in that you can capture the yolk in seconds, stand the catcher on its flat base, and cover opening with a small bit of plastic wrap for yolk use the following day. Plus no yolk breakage while doing it.Update: Have discovered it does not work well on brown eggs. For some reason it breaks the yolk every time.

This thing would work great for picking up many yokes out of a bowl.I used it only briefly, because its just a pain to wash this thing for ONE or two egg yokes.I'm buying one of the spiral stainless spoon types....a quick rise and swipe with a soapy brush and its clean.This thing you have to take apart and basically stick your finger inside. The plastic nozzle occasionally wants to slip out with too much egg in it...but it does work well if you want to separate a BUNCH of yokes for baking.

good idea but it didn't work for me. Interesting that the other reviews were all positive, so I'm not sure what I was doing differently. I understand you can use a water bottle and there are plenty of videos on youtube. I just wanted something prettier for the kitchen and this was cheap enough. But I think they made mouth area too big, and maybe with the wrong shape. It will take up the yolks, but even my large egg yolks kept wanting to fall back out and I had to work to keep the yolk in the gadget to get it to another bowl. I got my money back and amazon said I could keep it, but I just threw it out. This company should just redesign the shape of it maybe along the lines of a water bottle's shape, and then it could be a good item. I'll just go back to my old method for now of cracking the egg into a bowl and pulling out the yolks with my fingers.

I need to separate a lot of eggs so this little tool is a game changer. So fast and easy to use!. It can also go in the dishwasher.

I was very excited to buy this product; I'm a big fan of Quirky and their way of making people's dreams turn into reality, making the future one step closer to us, one product at a time.I really wanted this product to work for me, as I was fairly new to cooking/baking, and really wanted to simplify the (quite disgusting) process of separating an egg.Unfortunately, this product isn't perfect, and it didn't help all that much; in fact, I found myself using more eggs because of the little screw-ups that were done with this thing.Eventually, I just learned how to separate eggs the old fashioned way (you know, moving the yolk from one shell to another and that good stuff), and it worked much faster and better for me.I would recommend this to people who have tried the "regular" process and couldn't make it work.
