Urban Gypsy

Interesting ~ LA jazz with a French twist (or maybe French jazz with an LA twist), featuring various (moderately) well known folk such as Rachel (Steps Ahead) Z, Jimmy (Yellowjackets) Haslip, Steve (Rippingtons) Reid and the ubiquitous Luis Conte on percussion. The iffy mix is a liability, but overall this is the first of three pretty good albums from this French acoustic guitarist whose playing also has a vaguely Spanish flavour as well. Put those elements together in a US West Coast setting and the result is definitely worth a listen.

I first heard Marc playing for Steve Reid's Water Sign album and I knew at once that he would go go places with his guitar. I have been collecting his music ever since and enjoying every moment of it. Keep it coming Marc!

There is nothing I don't like about this cd. I bought it 3-4 years ago but it got broken somehow and I was so afraid I might not find it again but thankfully, I was on Amazon. Super.

Relaxing yet invigorating acoustic guitar.

Wonderful artistry. Never disappointed in his music. Standouts include "Sandcastle," "El Matador"--a very moving piece, elegant sadness.

Marc Antoine is my chosen artist no matter what mood I'm in. I have all of his CD's. You want romantic, sexy, uplifting, groovy, smooth jazz, comtemplative - you've got it here!

Latin jazz classical guitar at it's best. Marc Antoine is gold in this earlier album pre "Crusing" days. With such great songs as "Latin Quarter", "Forget-me-not", "Sand Castle". You won't be disappointed.

One of his best recordings, my fist foray into Mac Antoine. A little bright overall as a recording but goo overall.
