A worthy approach to finding Noah's Ark
Mr. Antonson is a masterful author and traveler. I thought this book was so unique in its approach to the search for Noah's Ark and the story that has been handed down for ages in different cultures. There are so many different activities in which he gets involved which gives the reader a good history lesson over the land that inhabits Mt. Ararat. The author knows no strangers as he travels along and gives the reader a good example how to experience different cultures and he receives such a trusting relationship and bond with those he becomes friendly. After all the years and exploration to find Noah's Ark, it seems the proof still eludes a positive finding and the mystery of The Ark remains a secret known only to God Almighty. I love his style of writing and would love to read more of his very special books.

Ararat Travelogue - Worth Reading
Good book, although I found some of the author's attitudes toward risk to be somewhat flippant. However, it's not just an excellent travelogue of places seen and people met, but is combined with enough history to give the reader some context for the writing. I especially enjoyed the beginning, in which the author recounts the beginning of his fascination with Mount Ararat. Having done a bit of study on Armenia and its issues, I didn't find anything new in the book, but quite enjoyed it.

A great adventure story from a master raconteur
Full Moon over Noah's Ark is another fine memoir from Rick Antonson. It's also an adventure story. And a valuable geography lesson. Antonson, a travel writer by profession, has taken to crafting adventures for himself beyond the confines of five-star hotels and expense accounts. In Full Moon he determines to "summit" the fabled Mt. Ararat in Eastern Turkey. It's fabled for being the alleged site of Noah's ark, for being treacherously difficult to climb, and for being at the center of a territorial dispute between Turkey and Armenia. Antonson has a companionable way of introducing us to the rigors of mountain climbing, the pleasures of new friends, and the tragedies of countries in centuries-old conflict. He seems to have a knack for making friends everywhere he goes, whether it's a cab driver smuggling contraband or a grandfather hitching a ride for the heck of it. This book gave me a new perspective on the countries of the Middle East and their amazing people.

Just OK
I've traveled in Turkey and the slow recounting of the dialogue begins to drag as it runs on for chapters while not much happensReaders expecting something new about the Ark search will be disappointedThe author's other book on the Kakoda Trail is more interesting

Far Better than Anticipated
I’ve read books on the various “assumed” location of the Ark before this book and each author formulates their own conclusion as being the only conclusion. Antonson does nothing of the sort and in fact let’s the reader speculate on possible locations. But this is far more than an attempt to find the Ark. It is a very strong narrative of the people and the places around Mount Ararat as well as a journey of discovery for not only Antson, but the reader as well. I fear I won’t be satisfied until I’ve read all of the other books by Antonson.

Noah and Much More
This is a really good book. I didn't have high expectations but was drawn into the narrative and really found it charming, engaging and fun. The author doesn't dwell too much on the Noah piece like many books on this topic do. Instead, you get a balance of culture, history, current societal issues in that part of the world, and, of course, enough Noah, Gilgamesh, and a variety of folk lore items to keep everyone happy! The book moves quickly and provides the right amount of detail and action. The characters are lively. The challenges of travel in the Turkey/Armenia/Iraq/Kurd area are most interesting. Thanks for writing a great book!

Highly recommended
A facinating and enjoyable read that tells an extraordinary tale of a childhood dream that many years later became a reality. But for me it also showed that we can all be real adventurers. Highly recommended
