Things to Come: A Study in Biblical Eschatology Review: Comprehensive and thorough. - J. Dwight Pentecost covers many questions you may have on what the Bible, the very Word of God, says about the time after this present time has past. He considers what others have written. It is exhaustive but easily understood when read with an open and receptive intention. Review: The Best Prophecy Reference - I am not an academic, nor a theologian, but I do have a strong interest in what the Bible has to say about "things to come." Our men's group spent several weeks on the Book of Daniel last year covering fulfilled and yet-to-be fulfilled prophecy which tweaked my interest. I enjoy Joel C. Rosenberg's novels and his prophecy references in "The Ezekiel Option" further encouraged my interest to study prophecy. I am also fortunate to be in the Sunday morning Adult Bible Fellowship class taught by Dr. Paul Enns (author of Moody's "Handbook of Theology," "Heaven Revealed" and others) who was a student of Dr. Pentecost and who considers Dr. Pentecost's book "Things To Come" as the definitive work on eschatology/prophecy. So I purchased the book and am working through it! This is an exceptional academic work that appears to present all sides of biblical interpretation. It is detailed and the reference book for graduate level theology classes. If you are anything like me, this is not a book you will read quickly or without some effort...and I'll guess you'll have your dictionary close by as you do. That said, I am completely enjoying Dr. Pentecost's work! It is divided into chapters that allow skipping around, so I do not feel limited to reading sequentially. It is a superb reference and I have gained important insight to why literal interpretation of scripture is "the way to go!" This is a long time read and a lasting reference for anyone who thinks about such issues as the rapture, tribulation, unconditional covenants, the "true" Israel and "things to come!" It is five stars in my book!

In Immanuel’s and
This 1957 ThD Dissertation is the first of 21 books by this devoted student of the Bible. He begins with a thorough explanation of his commitment to literal interpretation and concludes that Scripture harmoniously points toward an eternal state of perfect adoration for the God who inspired this book. Drawing from each of the 66 biblical chapters and over 200 scholarly books on eschatology, Pentecost weaves together a unified story from Adam to the Day of the Lord. Each chapter in Things to Come addresses a controversial topic in Christian theology giving balanced presentations of previous arguments and finishing with his own explanation of the dilemma. From the Kingdom to New Jerusalem, this tome is a breathtaking survey of the entire Bible as it relates to the prophetic utterances therein.

Great information from an earlier time.
We now have more information than Dwight Pentecost did in his life. We have opportunity to build upon many correct things in his book but also can excel past his presentation. Such is the march of biblical truths. Don't ever stop growing and searching.

Clarified and confirmed
This book has given me a clearer understanding of the Bible and the plan for God's chosen people Israel and also the church. By giving all of the different beliefs and opinions; and then giving the Bible based answers to the subjects, you can obtain the truths that you seek. How often has an expositor given a flowery and according to them the true explanation of a point or subject, just for you to realize they didn't have a clue or were just justifying their position by either spiritualizing the matter or just making it up. This book brings the clarity and the truths concerning the revelation of God's love, grace, and divine justice to and for His created. You and me .
