Playtown: A Lift-the-Flap Book Review: Super fun book that keeps the attention of 2 toddler boys - I initially got this for my 21 month old, but my 3.5 year old also LOVES it so I’m ordering another one in the series bc sharing is hit or miss. They have both come running over, book in hand, to show me something new they found. And there is so much to see in each page that it will be great with new words for my younger one. I love that they are flip tabs only and not the frustrating sliding tabs other books have. The tabs are not super thick so I’m sure a few will get ripped off, but this happens to almost all our flip books over time and it’s better than some. Review: Bought for the flaps, love for the illustrations & stories - My toddler loves flap books so we picked these out based on the promise of a ginormous amount of flaps. The book did not disappoint. An adult may need to prep the book by opening up the flaps when it first arrives as they are snug. Once used a few times the book is ready to go for your child. I love the detail of the illustrations and stories. It reminds me of the busy world of Richard Scary but in a more practical, modern setting. We can look under the flaps and point out objects to work on vocabulary. Each flap has a nice story so it will last a few years as it will be great for a child learning to read too. Overall it’s a good investment and value. This will be added to the list of items we gift to others as it is so wonderful.

Great for Building Vocabulary
I bought this book for my two year old when we had a very long road trip ahead of us. We have a book by this same artist about trucks that my son loves, so I figured he would like this one too. There are TONS of flaps on this book. There are different areas of Playtown that you visit on each page. Some of the descriptions are a bit long on the flaps and my son won't let me read them all before moving onto the next, but since we have had this book for a few months we usually point at things and discuss without letting the book "lead" these days anyway. I am not exaggerating- we can read this book for at least 20 minutes on the nights my son picks this book to read. There are tons of different people and animals on each page and under each flap and some of the flaps tie into each other (a boy in an elevator lost his dog- who you can find sneaking sausages on the opposite page). It has also done a lot to help my son build his vocabulary and make connections between different things he is seeing or that I am reading about. I really can't find anything bad about this book- WE LOVE IT!

Would buy again
Great book, colorful scenes, plenty to read and flaps to explore. Flaps are pretty sturdy, I went through each page and pre-opened them. However, the binding isnt great, the book is large so, that might have something to do with it. We've only had it a little over a month and it has already separated from the pages. I will have to glue it back together.

Cute illustrations, great to keep a little guy/girl busy
Bought to keep a 3.5 year old occupied on a plane trip. It's a great book, with lots and lots of flaps, and lots of cute and interesting little details. It has a decent amount of wording if you want to read, but I mostly summarized it and focused on finding things within the pictures. If you're going to use this on a trip, just be aware that it's pretty big and it's got a fair amount of weight to it. I kept it in my backpack on the plane, but there's no way he would've lugged this around on his own without whining.

Perfect book!
My toddler is obsessed with this one.

It has many beautiful flaps. However, it is not as sturdy as a board book. My 18 month old would destroy it if he is left alone with it. It is wonderful for a slightly older audience

Perfect book for babies

Unser Sohn liebt die vielen Möglichkeiten zum Aufklappen und die Ereignisse sowie Entdeckungen rund um den Flughafen. Aufgrund seiner zwei Jahre sind die englischen Texte zum Vorlesen auch kein Thema.

Both of my children had so much fun lifting the flaps. The book has a lot of detail so it is not a fast read and kept them entertained over and over. We definitely got our moneys worth.
