Amazing tough waterproof jacket
This jacket is a serious piece of equipment. Built solid and amazingly waterproof material that water beads right off of. I haven't worn the jacket out in a rain storm yet, but just for S&G's I ran the sleeve under the faucet and the water just flowed right over it and beaded away. Its a great jacket for damp spring and fall weather, but may be too heavy if you are looking for a lightweight summer jacket. The construction of the jacket is top-notch, the material is a very thick and solid heavyweight nylon (almost like a canvas), the zippers seems to be quality items and pretty durable, and every pocket and opening has stormflaps. I'm not crazy about the angled sleeve ends (not square like in the photo) but I understand why they're made the way they are to maximize coverage. Overall the jacket seems well thought-out and just feels great when you wear it. Update: I finally got a chance to wear the jacket in a rain storm during one of my son's baseball games that should've been cancelled. I sat with the other parents for 2 hours in a steady rain, and the water just beaded off of me the whole time. I noticed everyone else's jackets eventually soaked through while I stayed nice and dry. Great rain jacket! Definitely take heed of the sizing recommendations of all the other reviews. My normal jacket size is a 42 short, and I always take a Large in tops. I couldn't find a jacket to try on for size at any local shops, so I ordered a size down (medium) based on the other reviews and am glad I did. The medium fits great and still leaves plenty of room to wear a thick sweater or sweatshirt underneath. Order one size down for normal builds. Might consider two sizes down if you are a slight build and on the lower end of your normal size range.

Totally Awesome for Temps Below 50 deg F!!
I live in SE Michigan, and I rode my bike, walked and took buses all this winter. I was looking for a good outer shell, preferably breathable, and I bought this. I had always had excellent experiences with the Carhartt brand in the course of my site work in environment consulting, which took place out-of-doors, rain, snow or shine, come what may. This jacket has been TOTALLY AWESOME and is a really good bargain!! I can't say it is terribly breathable, as I wore in in temps down to 20 deg F, so I wasn't sweating a great deal, even on my bicycle, but it is totally waterproof, and provides really, really good wind protection. It seems much more durable than what you will get with a gore-text jacket. The fit was pretty good, and I had room underneath it for pullovers, hoodies, sweaters or whatever I wanted. And it's designed for work so you have lots of range of motion with your arms. I don't think it will be good for me this summer for temps above 50 or so- I am a big fella (6'1" and 230#). But for fall, winter and early spring, it's a winner! The only complaint I would have, and not a major one, either, is that I would have liked the zipper to be two-way, such that you could open up the bottom a little while you were wearing it, but overall, an excellent product and a good value.

Fits right, works right, holds up!
Carhartt Men's Big & Tall Shoreline Jacket Waterproof Breathable Nylon,Olive,XXX-Large Tall At 6-feet 5-inch tall and around 350 pounds. I have long arms and large chest and shoulders. This jacket if me like it was made for me. Sleeves extend past my wrists to cover the back of my hands when relaxed to my side while walking. The inner lining of the arms fit snugly around my wrists when my arms are over head, keeping rain from running down my arms. Left chest zippered pocket is easy to access and is large enough for my iPhone 7 plus in a Otter-box defender case. Other pockets: there are 2-zippered pockets just about elbow height one on each side, sometimes called hand warmer pockets. These are good size and fit my xxL hands with room to spare. Great for keys and my Leatherman multi tool. 2-large cargo pockets at waist level are good for work gloves, small tools, a snack and other such goodies. The detachable hood fits best over a baseball cap, and knit cap with visor. velcro closer around neck helps seal out wind and rain / snow. Note to hunters, this jacket is noise, rain hitting it make noise, moving arms makes noise. Otherwise this is a great rain jacket by its self on cool raining or snowy days. For me, 40-60F its perfect above it gets at bit warm for my taste. Under 40-f, a good under layer and all is good. Just buy it!

Really like this jacket. Best wind breaker and rain jacket I've owned.
Great jacket, really well made. Tight and waterproof, looks good but 100% is an effective weather protector. No insulation, wind and rain blocked only. I wear a hooded sweater for cold, or my one piece snow/cold suit with this jacket for wind chill. When I travel oversees I wear this jacket because it serves so many purposes and looks good. This is made to shed water, tight seams , sealed pockets. I got the big and tall XL. It's too big, but I like the size for wearing hooded sweaters in the winter. It is big, arm length is long. This is made at the correct size for big and tall XL. It's expensive, but it's well worth the quality and it really is a 100%rain proof jacket.

This is by far the best waterproof jacket I've ever had. Since I got it (two weeks ago) its hardly stopped raining and I've found that it keeps me perfectly dry and warm even in a miserable UK December. Its also the most comfortable jacket and I've not ended up as wet on the inside as on the out due to getting too warm. I must admit to being a bit of a Carhartt fan. I've got another winter jacket, an arctic vest and various sweats and tee shirts by Carhartt. All have one thing in common, they're, brilliant quality, well made and look like outlasting me as I'm getting long in the tooth. As I have very broad shoulders and a barrel chest I usually take XXL but I always go for XL in Carhartt stuff and they fit fine. Can't recommend Carhartt or this Jacket highly enough. Buy it.

Just great! Usually I am a medium but having read reviews I went for a small, fits great! Really excellent quality

I had to order the small when I'm normally a medium but it's exactly what I wanted as a jacket. Quality made, waterproof, not lined but warm enough to wear casually as low as -15 Celsius. Great sleeves and slim fit.

i have not had a chance to test this jacket as it is the middle of winter here. it seems well made and i am sure it will be fine as i own plenty of carhartt clothes and they are great. After time I have had a chance to wear this jacket more. It is very comfortable to wear and has nice big zippered front pockets. Easily holds a cell phone, wallet and keys. Waiting for rain to try it out.
