Renaissance man...
"Leonardo Da Vinci: The Renaissance Man" is a biography of the famed Italian artist, courtesy of Campfire Graphic Novels, author Dan Danko, and illustrator Lalit Kumar Sharma. Leonardo himself has long been considered a genius, one of the most gifted artists of all times, and an astonishing thinker, anatomist, diplomat, inventor and all around polymath.Leonardo was born the illegitimate son of an Italian official in 1452. His uncertain social status would lead to a life-long troubled relationship with his extended family. However, such was Leonardo's personal drive and visible genius that he was always able to find new patrons around Renaissance Italy. His apprenticeship with the artist Verrocchio led to the making of his own reputation as a great artist, and to a series of commissions for work. Leonardo also early established a reputation for never quite finishing many of his commissions, as new interests and enthusiasms pulled him in new directions. His long personal odessey would end in France at age 67.Author Danko frames the artist's biography around the modern 1911 theft of the Mona Lisa, Leonardo's greatest work, from the Lourve in Paris, driving home the point of Da Vinci's continuing fame. The artwork in this graphic novel enhances the narrative by suggesting the degree of his talents and provding a sense of the troubled times in which he lived, when conflict between Italy states was a recurring event. The narrative walks obliquely around modern-day suggestions about Da Vinci's sexuality. The narrative is careful to keep Leonardo's career in perspective, alluding to both his talents and his faults. Highly recommended to young teens as an introduction to one of history's enduring artistic icons.

The cover promises more than it delivers
The art of the book is terrible. As a matter of fact it distracts so much from the content it's hard to read. I had bought this book for my 11 year old, hoping to introduce him to one of the greatest geniuses in the history of the world. Unfortunately he was so bored he did not finish reading the book, which has never happened before regarding graphic novels. That was a disappointment.

Gorgeous comicbook which does justice to Leonardo Da Vinci's.lifestory
Graphic Novel ReviewRarely has a Campfire Graphic Comicbook disappointed me. In its pages is an irresistible combination of funky modern artwork, illustrations and a racy pulse thrilling storytellinv which seeks to retain the essence without losing key details.Reading about the artist and inventor extraordinaire is to realize "There may not be in the world an example of another genius so universal, so full of yearning for the infinite, so far ahead of his own century and the following centuries than Leonardo Da Vinci"It is not just to know the man who painted the most famous.painting in the world but to realize his amazing talents, ideas, designs, concepts, many of which perhaps didnt get an outlet or were banned. It is to know the man behind the genius with all his frailties and weaknesses. And why he remained the most popular and famous artist of his time.Read it and get enthralled!
