A Practical Guide to Dragon Magic (Practical Guides) Hardcover – September 14, 2010

My kids LOVE this series of books. We got the first one from the library ( A Practical Guide to Dragons ), and checked it out so much that we ended up buying it - and  A Practical Guide to Dragon Magic (Dungeons & Dragons)  and  A Practical Guide to Dragon Riding (Dragonlance: the New Adventure) . It has been three years, and my kids still regularly get these books out to read and to use a reference while drawing their own dragon pictures.The richly described world of dragons is engrossing. When we purchased these books, my son was in 1st grade and a reluctant reader. He would work really hard to read a passage in these books, even though the vocabulary level was high. As a beginning reader, he focused on the charts as they only had a few words per table cell. He quickly memorized pages of dragon facts, returning again and again to the books to read more. Now he reads all of the text.

It was everything I expected it to be and more. The book itself is very well constructed. Good quality paper & binding. If you collect & read Dragon books you'll love having this in your collection. Sorry the pictures aren't the best still they give you an idea.

This book is so awesome! It's very informative, and the artwork is so beautiful! I LOVE dragons and mythical creatures and reading about them, and this book is definitely one of my favorites! This would make an excellent addition to any fellow dragon enthusiast's library! :D:D:D:D

I love this book so much. I remember reading it from my schools mobile library that used to visit my elementary school. It shaped the future of my childhood if I'm going to be honest. Everything inside is exactly how I remember it and more. It has that old book smell :)I would say the condition check was a little off as it said that it had not writing in the book. There is a few pencil and pen check markers, but I expect nothing less from a children's book over a decade old. It's nothing that I can't bare with. Who ever handles the books before shipping might want to double check that label next time though. The binding was also slightly off, but I knew this before hand with the used warning. Other than that, it was packaged with priority and a nice "HANDLE WITH CARE! DO NOT BEND!" sticker on the envelope, cardboard protectors, and a plastic wrap for extra measure! 9/10 would recommend~

i have the other books in thsi series and had to get this one as ever the illastations are beautiful watercolor like and it is really alot of fun i recomend this book to those whom are into dragons and have the toher practical guide books

This book is very well done and the art is stunning. They aren't story-type books, more field guides with dragon info and cool pictures, but my boys loved the whole set.

My husband got our son this book and it was a huge hit. Our son loves dragons and all the colors of each one and this book really helped his imagination and creativity.

One of a series of seven books. Together they are a bit like the D&D worlds or fantasy for dummies...This one is an introductory book detailing dragon magic from the viewpoint of the world's inhabitants, no D&D stats, no game mechanics...just lots of fantastic and really lovely illustrations accompanied by some well written prose. A lovely introduction but not for D&D players, its more for thier kids!
