Nature Valley Crunchy Granola Bars, Peanut Butter, 12 Bars, 8.94 OZ (6 Pouches) (Pack of 6)

For years, my early-teen son and I have enjoyed these Nature Valley Crunchy Granola Bars in the Maple Brown Sugar flavor, so we were pleased to find them for sale here. They've been a favorite for both of us for years... we call them our crunchy oatmeal, as the main ingredient is whole grain rolled oats. Each pack in the box has two slim bars that total 180 calories and total carbs of 29g, so they've not only been a decent candy bar alternative, but a good snack while cycling or walking. The crunchy bars are not too sweet, have a nice maple brown sugar flavor, and are well wrapped and sealed for carrying in all types of weather. Another variety that we enjoy are the Nature Valley Chewy Trail Mix Bars in the Fruit & Nut flavor. These are nicely chewy, with a nice oat flavor, and can be gentler on the mouth the crunchier varieties. If you're counting carbs and calories, these are listed as having total carbohydrates of 25g and 140 calories. For our purposes, they're ideal for our frequent cycling activities. Either type of these granola bars is just filling enough to satisfy mild food cravings, and they're decent between meal snacks for kids or fairly active adults. Some say that teenagers and adults rarely concur on many things, but in our agreed opinion, these are a pretty even match in overall enjoyment. In our case, we usually get both. But crunchy or chewy, either is a good snack choice.

I had my first NV granola bar over 30 years ago. Now I eat them almost every day. Some people like the chewy ones and I like the crunchy ones. These are the crunchy ones. I am picky about the flavor variety and I only ordered the pecan flavor because there was a problem ordering the almond ones at the time. They are very tasty and have a slightly stronger nutty taste than the almond. Nature Valley is very consistent with their packaging and makes a consistent and delicious product as well. They are an unbeatably satisfying snack for on the go. Oh and did I mention the whole grain oats? It is the number one ingredient. So you feel like you are eating something kind of healthy. The package- I have read reviews about the crunchy type bars bearing a lot of crumbs and being messy. That is true they ARE crummy (so to speak). However, there is a solution. If you pinch either side of the top of the package and gently pull it apart you can then HALFWAY peel down the seam that runs along the length of the package. Now close the package back up loosely and break the top quarter of the bars while still in the package. Next open the package back up and take out a piece of the top bar and enjoy. It is kind of hard to explain but it picture yourself peeling a banana. The point is to make kind of a pouch to catch the crumbs. Also- I am trying to find a good use for the nice mylar package I used to throw out everyday. Right now I am making a daisy chain with them. Does anyone remember the daisy chains we used to make out of stick gum wrappers? It is just like that.

Like most of us I bought these for a snack. Great for emergency snack to at 190 calories for 2 bars(2bars in one envelope). These bars taste great as most of the reviews agree. Great taste. I love chocolate but these are not overly chocolate flavored. GREAT VALUE: 6 Boxes for $16.5 with subscribe and save. Each box has 6 packets with 2 bars. So, 6 boxes of 6 packets per box = 36 packets = 46cents per pack of 2 bars. Delivered to your door! Basic Nutrition (1 packet of 2 bars): Total fat 8 of 42 grams. Zero cholesterol. 12 of 42grams are sugar. 140mg sodium. Protein 4 of 42grams. Dietary fiber 3 of 42grams. Protein 4 of 42grams. These won't hurt you and they do not replace a good well balanced meal. Crunchy: These are a messy to eat. When you take a bar out of the packets, crumbs fall out. I solved this by pulling both bars out of the packet over a sink or trash can. Shake loose all the crumbs then put them back in the packet. Problem solved. For those that think these are too crunchy. Try: break off a piece and leave it in your mouth less than one minute then chew. I do this and it works great! I have had these for about a month now and I have just ordered the variety pack and the cinnamon flavor pack from amazon. Enjoy, I do.

2022-04-11 This product is a ripoff. Amazon sent one box of 6 packages (2 bars/package) when I paid for 12 boxes of 6 packages (72 packages). These boxes sell for $3 to $4 per box in the stores. I paid $44 for my one box. I called 3 times over the last 12 months and this has not been fixed. They have a quantity error in their product picking process, which they choose not to fix. Don't buy this product. -------------- Earlier: I am a fan of this product. I may be incorrect, but I find these bars give me the taste satisfaction of eating a cookie with the nutrition and calorie content of a healthy snack. The Granola is reasonably healthy and the calories of 190 calories for 2 bars is very reasonable compared to other granola bars and particularly if compared with 2 cookies of comparable size (mostly sugar and butter). I have tried a number of other healthy snack bars and I like Nature Valley the best. Although I vary which flavors I purchase, Pecan Crunch is my favorite because it has a nutty pecan flavor.

I was surprised that the "best by" date is as soon as July this year (it is Feb now). But it arrived okay and was exactly what I wanted.
