Creation-based Science
Excellently written science text for kids with God at the center as Creator. Uses correct young-earth dating throughout.

font too small
Font size too small and no way to increase font size. Is the book available in large print?

Where geology?
This is neither a good book on geology nor creation. It's mostly a very very basic presentation of how some geology lines up with the scriptural account of history. But it doesn't give strong evidence for it nor is there much in the way of sound geology education.I believe in creation but I'm also interested in geology and this just doesn't suit either one of those interests for me. This would be suitable for very young children whose parents want them to receive a Christian education. Nice big pictures lots of color, simple graphics. It's also a very thin short book and I just found it generally dissatisfying. Not quite terrible, As someone with a very limited education, there still isn't anything in this book that I didn't already know. That's not a compliment.

Excellent homeschool resource
As a homeschooling family of 6 (1-10yo's), I love this book. As others rightly point out, it's an excellent resource on geology from a Christian, young earth perspective. I'm reading it to my older 5 children (3-10yo). Although the words go over the heads of my 3 and 5 yo's, my 7yo and up is able to understand what I'm reading. However, I do substitute easier words when something complex is explained. ;) I love that there is a free study guide on the website. Although it is geared for much older ages (definitely above my 10yo's level), I'm able to use the basic questions and make up simple, age-appropriate worksheets for my young children. Love this book, and highly recommend it! I will be buying more Master Books in the future!

I believe my grand girl will like this well done book
Lovely Book. Well done for your up and coming geologist. I think it's important to support your children (or grand kids, in my case) in learning as much as they can while they show an interest in a subject. It may stick! I believe my grand girl will like this well done book. It breaks down the subject into easy to understand segments with information put in such a way to allow it to make sense and be interesting. I rec. it for anyone who wants to understand how our world works. And hopefully Great to encourage an interest into a passion to know more.

Well worth it!
I’ve bought a couple of the books from this series with this being the most recent and am very pleased. I am going to group all of them together as a perfect And well rounded High school freshman General Science course. It is easily broke down for younger siblings to use as well but I like it so much I’d rather save it until they can fully use it.

Godly perspective
I use this book to teach God's science at our co-op. Great godly worldview.

Scientifically Inaccurate and Poorly Constructed
I understand this book supports a creationism world view. However, it does not use established scientific fact to provide evidence for its viewpoint. Instead, the author ignores common scientific terminology (such as the steps related to the formation of sedimentary rock), makes inaccurate assertions (such as stating the amount of salt in the ocean can be used to determine the age of the ocean), illogically draws conclusions such as stating the continents will erode in the next 15 million years and thus must not be older than 15 million years, inaccurately describes radioactive decay and how it is used to date objects, and briefly mentions plate tectonics as factual before stating the continents are not moving.Regardless of your view on the origin of the planet, a textbook should used established, accurate scientific fact to argue that viewpoint. This book is not scientifically accurate, it is confusing to follow, and fails to accurately teach basic geological concepts, including those that align to the viewpoint it is trying to argue for.

Book is more a biblical dissertatation than a geology book
Was disappointed to find this book is more into pushing the biblical view, than science based geology. This was not stated on the website. I have nothing against religion, but not passed off as a geology book. Am returning book . If I want a book on religion of any faith, I will try to find it .

A creationist approach to geology for you to examine and evaluate.
It would though I bought it as a gift and have not read it. But I am very familiar with the author and have read much of his other work. He is a well-qualified geological engineer, holds a minority world view as a creationist. But he holds that in common with thousands of other PhD scientists.

LOADED with information and photos/illustrations, an excellent resource
Firstly, this *is* a book that looks at global geology from a catastrophic perspective vs. the uniformitarian view. So don't be shocked when this is what you find between the covers.I give this book 5 stars because it is jam-packed with information as well as many colorful illustrations and photographs. This book gives a fantastic overview of geology, working through the various key geologic terms in a manner that will leave both children and adults with a solid foundation of the geologic big picture. This is accomplished with succinct but information-packed descriptions: written so well that you swiftly understand, without being overwhelmed by lengthy chapters. The use of this book will give the reader an excellent understanding of the very important basics of geology. One could easily build a greater understanding of geology from this foundation.A note to those that would rudely insult those of us that utilize this series of books:Please understand something vital: Both Darwinian Evolution and Intelligent Design are *not* science but instead they are Origin of Life Philosophies. So you are in blatant error if you claim that Darwinian Macro Evolution is "science."These 2 origin of life philosophies examine the exact same scientific data ~ such as the fossil record, the geologic column, etc. ~ and come to the conclusion that "something" created life: be it The Big Bang or a divine Deity. But Evolution and Creationism are *not* science itself. I find it offensive that science classes are bogged down with the false representation of Evolution as raw empirical "science" when in fact Evolution should be taught separately in a philosophy class. Same with Creationism. Neither belong in the science class or laboratory ~ because, like Creation, the Big Bang and Macro Evolution cannot be replicated in the lab. It has never been observed. It is speculation and opinion based on a theoretic guessing about the scientific data, not a proven Law of science. To this day Macro Evolution remains a theory, although it is taught as if it were proven gospel truth. Which is not at all honest and in fact shackles science to a very limited scope of forcing the data to tell Evolutionists what they want to hear rather then scientists being free to allow the data to tell its own story. In fact a true Scientist is one that examines *all* of the arguments before making conclusions, rather then isolating ones self from competing theories and ideas. Therefore we would expect that those who tout "science" would in fact respect the right for others to adhere to origin of life ideas that differ from ones own ideas ~ without the need to dispense degrading abuse towards those that do not fully agree with you. Such actions make one appear quite insecure in ones own view... so much so that a competing idea is very threatening and must be silenced. So before you insult the intelligence of those of us that read these books, please keep in mind that we are in fact share an even playing field:you have a Creator (The Big Bang) of life, as do I ~ yet neither of us can prove it with the empirical sciences. One must "believe in" Evolution, but one need never "believe in" such scientific facts like gravity or the atoms of the Periodic Table. The Big Bang and Macro Evolution remain unproven and must be *taken on faith* rather then being proven fact. So a follower of Macro Evolution is in no way superior nor of superior intelligence then a follower of Intelligent Design.Thank you for taking the time to read this review!
