Kermit the Hermit

One of my favorite children's books of all time, really my favorite author
Ok, stop clicking around. Seriously. Just go ahead and buy this and another 10 or so Bill Peet books. You won't be disappointed. I give these all of the time to friends as a baby present. Yeah they look at me a bit strange but then like 4 years later they call and say that they read Kermit the Hermit _every_ night. No really, it's a good thing. So many kids books either have too few words on a page or not enough to look at. For my wife and I, reading a book every night to our son was an event that was to be looked forward to and shouldn't be rushed. Every page in this book and all of Bill Peet's that I've read have incredible detail and are fun for kids and adults to read and look at. The stories also are just wonderful with a great messages of sharing, helping, being friendly to others, etc..

Appropriate for ages 4-10.
Cute book about greediness. My four year old boy loves it. The vocabulary is beyond his level, but he still understands the overall message. (We do a lot of stopping and explaining).

My kid and I love it!
This one is new for me. Read it to my kid twice the first night we got it. He still brings it to me to read every few days. We like the silly crab and the pelican he meets at the end of the book.Story could be better. It's a children's book so I won't explore any plotholes.Illustration is some of Peet's best IMHO. Overall a delightful (if long) story. We read this one first in case we run out of time before teeth brushing and goodnight kisses. It's shorter than How Droofus the Dragon Lost His Head but still one of our longer bedtime stories.

Just pure awesomeness š
Bill Peet is brilliant. Few childrenās authors rival his writing and illustrations. A must for every childhood! Kermit the Hermit is definitely his best book.

our daughter tells us it is one of their favorite books now
We bought this book for our grandsons (5 & 3) for Christmas & had the opportunity to read it to them only once before they left to go home. However, our daughter tells us it is one of their favorite books now. It is an intelligent story with a moral that young children can understand & appreciate. Bill Peet chose his words carefully, so that it reads well out loud with some rhyming. His pictures are also beautiful. It may be a bit long for the youngest child, but not for those who love a good story read to them.

Bill Peet books are the best.
I read all the Bill Peet to my kids, and now I am reading them to their kids. They are most appropriate ( in my opinion) starting about aged 3-4 years. All his books have good lessons to be learned- a lot of adults could learn a thing or two, too!

Fantastic read aloud
This book is fabulous to read aloudā¦rich rhyming language that rolls off the tongue and pleases the listener. Illustrations by Bill Peet rival his prose. Children love this book
