Excellent product for hardwood floors
This works perfectly. The felt protects the hardwood floors and adds cushion underneath the rug. It slips easily on the floors so only use for large area rugs that will have furniture to hold in place. Otherwise buy the one with grip added. I bought the 8X11 and it was cut perfectly for my needs. The previous complaints about not being perfectly 8X11 is ridiculous as this is woven/meshed fabric that stretches naturally. A little extra works out nicely anyways and allows you to tailor it to match your rug (good scissors recommended!). Previous comments of crud being in the woven felt are also nitpick in my opinion. They are there due to this being recycled fabric, are quite small and do not affect the performance of the product. Some people just love to complain I guess as this was exactly if not better than what I expected.

Adds nice cushion
I was skeptical that this pad would make a difference. We have hardwood floors laid over concrete and have been living the past year without a pad under our living room area rug. I really wanted the half-inch pad but didn’t feel like paying close to $200 for an 8x10 so I purchased this one at 1/4 inch at around $50. Stepping onto my rug now is such a relief. There’s a definite improvement in the “Cush” of the rug and now I know my rug will last longer too. I can’t speak for the slippiness because I have a sofa and other furniture holding it down. The fit was perfect for me so no need to trim. I also realize now that the 1/2 inch pad likely would have created a trip hazard and this one is just right.

Very Good Pad
You read reviews and you don't know what to believe, some are great some are not. This pad is really great. Very soft and a little thicker than the 1/4 inch stated. However over time with carpet and furniture over it I am sure it will compress. I need to trim a good 5 inches around two sides. I laid my carpet on it first and lined up one of the ends and one side of carpet. I first tried a pair of scissors, which did not work. Got my good sewing shears and tried that and did not work. Finally grabbed my box cutter, I folded back the carpet to make a straight edge and scored the pad, since its thick it did not go all the way thru to floor, but you need to be careful, if you press too hard it will go all the way. Once it was scored the scissors went thru super easy.

Better options
There are better options. I decided to be cheap because rugs are so expensive to begin with and this one has good reviews (and was the cheapest I’d seen!) I kept tripping over my rug so I decided to get a rug pad. There are many things that I didn’t like: 1. it’s felt on both sides.. which means if you have wood floors, it’s still gonna slide around. I was sure I had read that it avoids slipping, and thought it had both non slip plus felt 2. “Can be easily cut with scissors” NOPE. I had two types of scissors and neither made any kind of progress. I ended up frustrated and having to use an exacto knife which still wasn’t easy and was messy. Later I found that it says “fabric scissors” are best. I don’t know about anyone else but that’s not something I have just lying around. 3) I have a coffee table with castors and if I move the coffee table it bunches up, which is also what I was hoping this would help with. So, it does make it slightly softer, and that’s just about it. Way too much of a hassle to return it, and I already cut it, so it I’m very disappointed that I spent $50 on it. I could have used that to put towards something that actually met my needs.

LIKE WALKING ON LUSCIOUS COTTON!
I purchased this pad for an oriental rug and every time I walk across it my feet thank me! It's simply luscious and has made all the difference in the look and feel of my oriental. When a rug is properly padded, it looks better to the eye, feels better to the feet, and will greatly extend the life and wear of the rug - I know because I'm in home building. This pad is thick and soft while still being appropriately supportive between the rug and floor and doesn't slide around. It was also easy to cut-to-size. Since it needed to be trimmed both length and width, I used the trimmed portions for another small rug by using duct tape (wide packing tape will make a crinkle sound when you walk over it so that's not ideal) to hold the individual sections together. If you do the same just remember to place the tape side up so your floor isn't scratched. This was a great purchase and I plan on ordering more in the future - I've been incredibly pleased. By the way, the rug was delivered rolled and packaged in a box.

A nice product
I just completed laying about 800 square feet of laminate flooring in my condo. I needed two felt pads for some Persian rugs I purchased 25 years about ago. This pad was excellent. The size was true and the shape seemed to be an accurate rectangle. They feel good under the rugs. I really couldn't ask for much more.Because felt does slide on laminate, we added some PVC anti-slip rug guards at a couple of corners that are exposed to foot traffic and the slippage stopped.I also bought a smaller size rug pad and cut it into pieces to put under some bookcases that sit flat on the floor -- the cases were all 18" x 39" and I cut pieces of that size for each bookcase. This added protection for the floor but also let me push the bookcases on the laminate (part of juggling installing flooring in half a room at a time) to get it out of the way and then ultimately into their final resting places. That paid a dividend when I pulled out one 6 foot tall bookcase today to reconnect the wireless router, switch, cable modem and WD Cloud drive that I have sitting on top of a bookcase. Far easier than when they were on a carpet and far easier than it would have been on laminate without the felt.

Great for protecting wood floors
I purchased this rug pad because our jute rug had started to scuff our newly finished wood floors, and I'm super happy with it so far. It's really soft to touch so I feel confident it will protect the floors. Bonus - it gives a lot of cushion and has actually helped hold in the dust that jute rugs inevitably leave behind. It was a bit larger than the 8x10 size we purchased but trimming it with a boxcutter took maybe five minutes (scissors don't work very well by the way).

NOT AS ADVERTISED - NOT DUAL SURFACE!
I’m not sure why more people aren’t more upset about this. The pad is fine, except that the first line of the description says:“About this item* PREVENTS SLIDING: with a nonslip rubber side to grip hard surfaces.”This is the description of one of Mohawk’s ‘dual surface pads’. THIS IS NOT. Instead you’re buying Mohawk’s ‘unbacked rug pad’ which is more slippery than the rug I’m using it under.(Product info can be found on mohawkhome dot com)THIS IS 100% misrepresentation. The company selling it owes people a refund.

Deception.............Amazon’s Choice?
I saw it was an Amazon’s Choice item so did not read the reviews....Big mistake.....When you buy a pad saying « non slip rug pad » you assume it will be. My rug was moving less without the pad. I contemplated returning it but since I decided to put the two recliners on it along with the front legs of the coach, I guess I will keep it. ......what saddens me the most is now I won’t be able to trust the « Amazon’s Choice » mentions.

Slips with no backing
Shouldn't a rug pad be non slip assuming it goes on hardwood or tile? Expexting some type of rubber or non-slip backing. This adds comfort underfoot but slippery so defeats purpose.

Cushy but slips
I got this underpadding for a flatweave cotton rug (4'x6'). It feels cushy underfoot and I love that! However, I've put it on hardwood floor and it slips even more than the rug did without it! I tried it on both sides - both are slippery, but one will hold the rug to the underpadding better. I have two other types of underpadding under other rugs and they don't slip at all, but they did cost more and I got them from other places. I'll have to order one of those skinny non-slip rug pads to stop this rug from moving around. I do like the thickness, appearance, the fact that it's made from recycled materials etc., but it's too dangerous without something to keep the rug in place. Oh, I did have to cut it a bit to make it a little smaller, and that was fine - easy to do.

Not non-slip!
This rug pad is nice and thick and can be cut to size. One thing to note is that it is slippery on both sides and there is NO rubber backing. One side is slightly rough but it will not keep the rug in place. You will still need a non-slip pad in place or large furniture to affix it to the floor. The rough side is intended to grab the rug which leaves the slippery side against your floor. You will need a non slip pad under it.I would have returned it if I did not have furniture keeping it in place.
