Q: Is it possible for the magnet to come in contact with the car door? What material(s) is actually touching the door?

Hi No it is not possible for the magnets to contact the car door paintwork, the magnets are moulded into silicone rubber.

Q: 31cm is 12 inches..that’s very short in length for a cars door coverage? Is this correct Please? Thanks

It attaches to the car door by magnetic force. You can remove it from the car door after use, and so do others. It won’t stick to aluminum alloy if your door was made of aluminum alloy.
