desertcart.com: Understanding Celtic Religion: Revisiting the Pagan Past (New Approaches to Celtic Religion and Mythology) eBook : Ritari, Katja, Bergholm, Alexandra: Books Review: While I do understand that academic books such as this, published by university presses, have a limited appeal and therefore a small print run that drives up the cost per copy, there are limits. I mean, come on, University of Wales Press, £60 for a book that, if you exclude the notes, bibliography and index, has only 115 pages of actual text, and is also considerably smaller in all its dimensions than most hardbacks is a bit much isn't it? And I know it's in the nature of such portmanteau volumes, featuring works by a range of authors, to lack the coherence of works by a single author, but this seems scrappier than most. Having only received the book a few days ago, I have yet to finish it. Yes, it's short, but I spend most of my time writing, only finding brief moments to read in the evenings. Hopefully I'll find something in it that will enable me to justify to myself the price of admission.
