As a collector of "Halloween" memorabilia, Kim Gottlieb-Walker's book is one of the greatest items I have ever seen!!!
As a collector of memorabilia from the "Halloween" film series, Kim Gottlieb-Walker's book is one of the greatest collections of Halloween and John Carpenter history that I have ever seen. The behind the scenes shots of so many of Carpenter's films and the first hand accounts provided by Gottlieb-Walker and friends is a gift to those of us that thought we had it all and had seen it all. This is the book Jamie Lee Curtis gives out autographed copies of. This is the book that captures years of great collaborations of the likes of Dean Cundey, Tommy Lee Wallace, Jamie Lee Curtis, Donald Pleasence, and many more, while giving those of us that know these films so well a whole new perspective on them.I cannot stress enough that if you or a loved one are a fan of John Carpenter's films and the people he has worked with over the years, this is a fantastic gift.Thank you Kim Gottlieb-Walker for your years of hard work and wonderful imagery!!! Kim Gottlieb-Walker's Book is a Must-Have Treasure
Kim Gottlieb-Walker's long awaited book might have been worth more of a wait than the deluxe movie box set released around the same time in October 2014. Her photos from from her work on John Carpenter's films look gorgeous in this large book. Gathered from prints and negatives (some lost and unreleased for many years), this book offers a fresh retrospective of her collaborations with Carpenter, as well as some behind-the-scenes shots. Halloween fans won't be disappointed as both the original classic and its sequel come to life in stark black and white images. Some color photographs are sprinkled throughout, but it is the iconic images caught in monochrome that will likely grab the eyes and hearts of Carpenter fans and photography buffs. The featured Amazon price is an unbeatable bargain. Add this treasure to your collection today!

this book is a wonderful time capsule that covers an exciting and nostalgic period ...
As someone else mentioned, this book is a wonderful time capsule that covers an exciting and nostalgic period of great filmmaking. John Carpenter and Debra Hill created some truly great films that firmly established both of them as creative forces in the industry who could take a low budget and do something magical with it. Even films that may not have made a ton of money at the time, are now considered classics of their genre thanks to Carpenter's direction. There seemed to be an innocence during that period of filmmaking (late 70's-mid 80's) as many involved have pointed out, John's sets were more of an intimate family setting as opposed to a large corporate and pressure packed set. Kim Gottlieb-Walker took amazing photographs on set during this time which captures the spirit of what things were like behind the scenes. The book is a great price with tons of wonderful pictures that will no doubt take the reader instantly back in time. The book is also a lovely tribute to producer Debra Hill who is featured in the book on many pages, (Ms. Hill passed away in 2005) she was a pioneer in the industry and helped paved the way for many successful female producers. I would strongly recommend this book!

A must have for fans of John Carpenters work
I stumbled upon this work and the art work of Kim Gottlieb- Walker while viewing some of her originals that were displayed in a museum showcasing stills from Halloween and Halloween II (my two favorite horror movies of all time). I lost a bid on a fantastic piece but fell in love with her work. The book is filled with stills from 5 of Carpenters’ films and does a great job of explaining how her work was so important to the success and marketing of the films. An absolute must have for fans of Halloween, John Carpenter, or fans of photography

A Must See (and Read) Book
Another terrific book by Kim. The photos are the gems, but the bonus is the behind-the-scenes knowledge and memories from those involved in the creation of some incredible movies. It was nice to hear from the various contributors to these films. There's some great insight packed into the narratives. When I think about it, Kim's book would be a valuable resource for budding actors, filmmakers, and photographers.

THE ultimate photographic history and presentation of John Carpenter's classic films by one of our greatest photographers!
As an old-school collector of movie memorabilia, I have been a fan of Kim Gottlieb-Walker's work since first seeing "Halloween" as a child and recognising the relevance and importance of her publicity stills that graced promotional material for this (and later) John Carpenter classic. Many years later I contacted Kim personally and ever since have delighted in discussing her amazing work and little-known behind-the-scenes stories of these wonderful films. And this is what has been delivered here together in so appealing a package - Kim's timeless, instantly-recognisable photography combined with plentiful tales of production highs and lows from those who were there on all of the films on which she worked with John. It is refreshing to hear from new cast and crew members who have long been overlooked, particularly in retrospectives/documentaries concerning "Halloween"; but not so in Kim's book, which manages to explore each film in detail. The images are of course worth owning this theatrical archive alone; never have so many stills (many never before seen) been presented together in one format for Carpenter's work. This has been a strong labour of love for Kim for many, many years, and what a thrill it has been to watch the progress of this book over time. Kim should feel proud that she has delivered a "Carpenter companion" worthy of any fan not only of this great director, but simply of the films themselves. Readers will delight in the serious and humorous stills (and tales) that make up each chapter, and the book is thoroughly addictive, becoming even perhaps more entertaining with each detailed read. Thank you to Kim for her extraordinary efforts in compiling this photographic history of one of cinema's greats, the result of which also proves that Kim has been one of imagery's greats and will continue to enthral fans and readers across the globe.

On set with John Carpenter
Are you a fan of John Carpenter films? Then I'd highly recommend picking this up - it's quite literally stacked full of great photos, as you'd expect, but don't expect a blow-by-blow account of the making of the films covered here; it's really more of an 'on-set- recollection', and has a few anecdotes sprinkled throughout, some amusing, and most are personal. It gives a great sense of what it was like to be young and making movies. The only downside of this is that unfortunately, Kim only worked on a handful of Carpenter's films, so we don't get to see behind the curtain of The Thing or Big Trouble in Little China, two of my personal favourites, but that's hardly the author's fault.

it covers some of his best films, but be aware that the book is ...
Have not finished reading it yet, but the photographs within in are superb, lots of behind the scene images, not only of his films but of the actors, crew and Carpenter himself. If your a fan of John Carpenter then you should consider buying this, it covers some of his best films, but be aware that the book is about stories behind the photographs from recollections of the photographer, as opposed to the films themselves.

Beautiful ... just beautiful
A beautifully presented, and very comprehensive piece of work.I genuinely had goosebumps looking at some of the behind-the-scenes photos in here (the Halloween 1978 wrap party, and the incredible photos of Lee Van Cleef, Ernest Borgnine and Janet Leigh were stand-outs for me).An incredible document of just some of the iconic work of the sublimely talented Kim Gottlieb-Walker.So good, I've actually got two more copies (signed by KG-W) coming from the US.
