Well made and good looking bagel cutter. If used correctly will prevent you cutting your fingers off. First, make sure you oil the cutter and after each use clean with a paper towel. Every once and a while oil it again. It has a wide base which will keep the bagel steady. Put the bagel in the cutter and apply the knife, pressing down firmly enough to keep the bagel from rotating as you cut. It the bagel starts rotating, try different pressure on the knife... one pressure, applied to a particular bagel will cut the bagel and prevent it from rotating. Cut only until you bottom out on the wood at the bottom... rotate the bagel 180 degrees and then repeat the cut... you will only have a small slice to complete the cut so the bagel cuts in two pieces. Pros:It works great on all bagels with a little practice. You'll save your fingers and other body parts. Looks good enough to have out in the kitchen as a decoration. Easy to clean, and maintain. Fast. Cons:None.

I leave this on my island for decor whether I’m using it for bread that day or not, and everybody asks me what it is! It’s not cheaply made, and makes slicing bread much easier and helps with slicing pieces evenly. It’s not wide enough for French bread, but perfect for baguettes. It looks very nice and classy. Happy with my purchase and would recommend to others!

Wonder item to give as a gift, housewarming, or just to have in your home. Thick and sturdy so it feels safe and solid when using, don't have to worry about it sliding from under you when cutting. Easy to clean and take apart for full cleaning, the wood holds up well to cuts and scratches from proper repeated use. Excellent investment for the bread lover in your life.

Attractive, well built, good proportions. Purchased to act as a TV tray to carry dinner to another room or outside and to place on my lap as a dining surface. I had some old bamboo trays that came apart if you used the handles and were flimsy. I liked the idea of the lip on this saddle tray to keep everything in place, which it does very nicely. I only gave it 4 stars because of its size. It does not hold a dinner plate and really is too small for a lunch plate or at least my lunch plate, due to the sloping sides. I use a folded wash cloth underneath the lunch plate to lift the base up high enough to fit in the tray. Small plate with bowl (soup and salad) works great. Could see a couple of drinks and a pitcher for summer lemonade, etc. it is sturdy enough fo that weight. I have a couple of steps and a storm door to navigate to go outside, so the raised sides are great for keeping everything on the tray. I really like them and would order more if they came in a larger size.

Fabulous artisan piece. Makes slicing and eating French bread so fun. I love the quality and color of the wood. Such an interesting and unique piece.

This looks nice but that’s all it does. Trying to slice a bagel with a serrated knife just causes the bagel to spin in the holder u less you hold it steady with your hands… defeating the purpose entirely (these were big bagels, fit was not the issue). The only way to cut through is to just mash straight down and have the knife edge tear through the bagel. Fashion over function this thing sadly was
