Nice book
From Indian perspective I didn’t find it much useful but it’s a nice read and took so many points to use.

More of a curated compilation
I was put off just a page into the book where the author refers to 'friggin children running around the house like it was a playground' ... that's what children do woman, they have a lot of energy.. and guess what thats what homes are for - to unwind.. you can look this up.. lol.. basically the writer is the woman of the modern world trading children for dogs and the initial pages contain unabashed declarations of how fabulous Erin - the author - is. As for the content, it doesn't offer much if you're looking at it from a professional point of view. Meaning, formal principles or theories of composition, colour, texture are not discussed or analysed - this is coming from a registered architect and interio designer who spent years at college sorting through this stuff. It's more of a well curated book by an interior decorator - there's difference because interior decoration is quite intuitive - you can do this if you have a good taste in aethetics. The pages and photographs are good. The writing style is easy to follow and different styles of decor are described room by room. Okay book for an Indian professional architect to glimpse into western decor. If you're from the west, give it some thought before you check out your cart
