Excellent tool, backed by good customer support
I bought this when an ice dam caused a leak recently. When I unpacked the parts I found the rake head had 2 small cracks. I contacted Avalanche support and customer service was efficient and helpful. They immediately shipped out a replacement part. I have used the rake twice and found it worked well, is light and easy to use. The poles are easy to snap into each other and take apart after use. The only exception is that it was hard to get the final pole into the rake, but I suspect this is deliberate, so that the rake head-pole connection does not flop around. I leave the rake attached to one section of pole, when storing. The sections are only 4 feet, so it is still easy to store all the parts in a corner. There is a tradeoff between weight and ruggedness in snow rakes and I like the design. Ruggedness seems fine. When it gets hard to pull, backoff and pull a bit less in each pass. I strongly recommend the Avalanche SRD20 as an excellent tool, backed by a reliable manufacturer. They mold both the URL and 800 number for customer support on the rake.

Good scraper, bad storage system.
I can't give this five stars because: While it is a great improvement over what I used to have: --It is virtually impossible to remove the scraper head from the pole, which then prevents putting it in the "rack" for storage. --The storage rack does not seem to fit the poles. On my first attempt, I tried to snap the poles in and by the third one, no more would fit without excessive force. If I just "hung" them in by the tip (the thin part of each pole, they can easily get knocked down as they are not held securely. As a scraper, I love the fact that it has wheels (I am scraping off solar panels on much of my roof) and it all seems sturdy and is light weight enough. So functionally it seems fine, the storage system is lacking

Awesome roof shovel!!
Awesome product! I bought it to get the snow off my greenhouse. The extensions make it long enough to reach the top without any problem. The wheels glide as you pull making it easy and fun! I highly recommend! (And I’m an older woman with one bad arm lol).

Works well.
Works well on the metal roof with about 6” of snow. I did 1/2 way up the first pull and the remainder with the second pull. I expect with more snow, you would just take smaller bites with each pull.

Love this thing!
I love this thing! I’m a 78-year-old woman, and I found it manageable. Very easy to assemble. I only need 3 of the 5 sections to reach the point beyond the outer wall of my 1-1/2 story house (about 4 feet, which I do 2 feet at a time). The wheels allow it to glide downward easily.

Works but feels flimsy
I have used it twice so far to remove 4-5 inches of light snow off the garage and house roofs. It did a fine job on the fluffy snow but some snow that was on the roof from previous storms that had melted some and then refrozen into a more crusty snow I could not get off. This plastic rake doesn't want to cut through the crusty snow like my old aluminum rake, however, I'm sure this plastic rake with the wheels is more gentle on the shingles so there is that. Also the handle seems rather flimsy. A few times when it got stuck in the crusty snow I was hesitant to really yank on the rake for fear of something breaking (either the plastic rake head or the handle). That is the primary reason for only 4 stars. To be fair, it will remove snow but I would suggest removing it as soon as possible while it is still fluffy and before it builds up too deep. If you got 6" or more of wet heavy snow I think it would struggle.

Where have you been all my life. I have a flatter section of roof that tends to ice dam and I missed out last year. Most products sold out so I made sure to order this in the summer. Used it twice so far with no struggles and cleared the roof perfectly with ease. Looking forward to no ice dams this year.

Really well-made. Thick plastic rake and thick-walled aluminum tubing. Product is as depictrd in the photos and very good quality

Likes 1) no assembly required 2) pole extensions are more rigid than other rakes 3) wheels reduce friction on the shingles making it easier to pull Dislikes 1) rubber handle grip does not stay in place . Easily fixed by wrapping tape around the the end of the grip attaching it to the pole

Nice extra thick aluminum poles that won't dent with usage. Plus the joints that are extra long and snug to prevent the poll from shaking and rattling feeling flimsy when using all 5 sections (sturdy) My only concern was the hard plastic scoop. I was afraid it could crack under multiple usage. But so far so good, I used it numerous times all last winter and still okay. I would have felt more comfortable if the scoop were aluminum. The scoop's design nicely digs into the snow whle the little wheels prevent roof shingle damage. I would like to be able to get more poles for even longer reach

I have a multi storey multi pitch roof in a show prone area. Due to the age and design of the house, ice damming is an unfortunate side effect that I need to deal with. This tool is very effective at removing mounds of snow quickly. The 5 extension poles provide ample reach to hit multiple storeys and pitches safely from the ground. That said, when fully extended the head weight makes movement challenging and when you add in the weight of snow, it can get difficult. I’m physically capable of swinging it but if you have back or shoulder issues it could be a tad taxing. Overall very happy with this product.
