Q: I see this is mounted in front of the camera rather on the hot shoe. Does this pose a problem shooting or covering some of the functions?

Hi Doug, I am using this device on my Nikon D800 and the only button that you can't access is the flash/bracket button. You can still access the button to pop up your on camera flash though. I got this to replace the one I had for my Nikon D7000 that mounted on the hot shoe because it was not compatible with my D800. I don't see that not having access to the on camera flash is a problem because you couldn't even use the on camera flash with the hot shoe mounted device anyway.

Q: Can it be connected to the D810 with the big Tamron 24-70 lense ? This lense is so big that it leaves little space around the 10-pin connector.

I use this with the Tamron 24-70 lens and the D850. The lens bumps up against the receiver but it fits. Barely.

Q: Can you lock the shutter button down for continuous shooting mode?

Yes you can. A long press (2 seconds) on the remote will lock the shutter open, press the button again and it will close the shutter. This is by far the best wireless remote I have used, haven't had any issues with bulb or regular operation. One thing I will note is when in bulb mode or any long night exposures the LED indicator lights from the wireless receiver can illuminate your subject if it is too close. To combat this, I place a small piece of cloth tape or electrical tape over these indicator lights when shooting close subjects at night in bulb.

Q: Cannot get the wireless shutter release to function?

Is the receiver light blinking when you trip the remote button indicating that it is receiving the signal? If that is working then check that to see if your camera is set on auto focus in a mode where it won't release if it doesn't focus on something? Switch to a manual focus mode and see if that works.

Attention for antena .

The product is excellent.The antena on receiver should have been concealed to avoid accidental damage ,when the same is mounted on camera and put it in the bag in a hurry while transporting.
