You place a leaf on the white egg. Then you wrap a pantyhose stocking around the egg and tightly knot it (this keeps the leaf in place). Then submerge the whole stocking-wrapped egg in the dye bath. Then when you achieve the desired color, cut off the stocking and you will have a leaf imprint
