His wry humour, attention to detail, ability to weave words to describe the terrain and the people, his insights into the psychology of the enemy, his love and affection for his men .... priceless. He makes war come alive to those of us lounging in our lazeeboys. Our nation owes infinite gratitude to him and his brethren. Salute 🫡

It was a nice experience reading this, finished the reading within a day , it was a gripping tale of ruggedness , story of survival skills shown by our warriors, and a short love story at the end ...

An excellent account, delivered with an intuitive punch. Its great to have a subject like this narrated in a gripping format that all will find interesting. Coming from Mr. Abhay Narayan Sapru, who has seen and experienced the Sri Lankan conflict and situations surrounding it up close and upfront, 'The Beckoning Isle' is full of veritable moments of insights about IPKF & LTTE. The book is truly 'beckoning' in that sense. A must read in current times, to get a real peek into the life and workings of our respected armed special forces and their human side. Well written. Paper quality shud be better though

Major Sapru is inspirational, funny, accomplished and he writes extremely well. Every Indian should read his books. Highly recommended to all my fellow Indians.

One must read to understand how a colossal loss of lives can be easily forgotten for political mileage.

Amazing book, with a lot of exposure to special forces operations and un-orthodox soldiering.
