Seems accurate enough. I calibrated it at the freeze-point of water (0 degrees Celsius) so that, within the range of what I needed (0--40 C), it provided me will all the accuracy (0.5 C) that I needed

For my tropical fish tank with some of it's fussier occupants, I wanted/needed an absolute science-grade temperature reading. Rated accuracy certificate included. $5, $10, $20 thermometers were a waste of money. Now I press the switch on, dip in tank, count to three and Bingo... get my reading to a tenth of a degree. Guaranteed. Another switch converts Fahrenheit and Celsius. Expensive, but so are my fish and the certainty is worth it.

Watch out! Purchased this Thomas Scientific calibration traceable thermometer through Amazon. This product stopped working after 8 months. I can't find a link to get assistance from Amazon since it is out of the return period. I called Thomas Scientific and they said they would do nothing. Further stated they do not manufacture ANYTHING. They're simply a distributor and could care less about the issue I had or how to resolve. They refused to try to look up the item or determine if any warranty even existed. Their response was just 'Talk to Amazon' no matter what question I asked. Not sure why they paid a live person to do that. They could just put it on a recording and repeat it over and over.

Works great and very accurate.

Product its self is good quality. But when being shipped needs to be better then bubble wrapped envolope. Within three months of owning this product it slowly started acting funny...like eating batteries up and now it doesn't even turn on. Total waste of money don't buy one.

Since the thermometer is held by the same plastic barrel where the display appears, the plastic casing has a tendency to snap off at the second red band just above the metal stem. This particularly happens if the thermometer is used to measure very viscous swirling liquids. Next time I'm going to purchase one with a different design.

Ad says "with an accuracy of + or - 0.2 degree C" Documentation says +-.2C at tested points otherwise +-1C. But then does not tell one what points were tested. If they only tested one or two points then +-.2 is easy to obtain and means nothing.
