Delighted and Confidently Recommend It
This unit is composed of an inflatable mattress that securely attaches to the bed frame and an air compressor that hangs off the footboard. Pressure in the mattress cycles high-low to prevent bed sores. The MedAir system is of very good quality. Here is a list of features I appreciate most. 1) They arrived in a durable, zippered travel bag that should last the life of the mattress. 2) Compressor is quiet and strong. It quickly reaches the desired pressure and does not disrupt sleep. 3) Two layer mattress design works as advertised. The patient does not bottom out when sitting up. 4) Max pressure feature quickly firms the mattress (strong compressor) and just as quickly returns to normal pressure when done. Our last system was too slow so I rarely used it. 5) Air loss during power interruptions is very low, as advertised. I do have one complaint. The wireless remote is useless with a cheap feel to it. It is difficult/impossible to aim the IR beam at the compressor when laying on the mattress. Overall, I am delighted with this air mattress system and confidently recommend it.

This is a great mattress!!!!
I had skin breakdown that was getting worse and my old air mattress wore out... we got this overnight and by bedtime I was on it...within days, skin problem solved.... This mattress has multiple settings...Alternating, which has a feature to enter your weight and the bed adjusts accordingly....A Static setting that is firm throughout...and a lovely feature for meals...it's marked "sitting" & it inflates all the cushions for about 20 mins or so and then returns to regular settings... it's a great mattress for my needs and Is affordable....the motor hangs on footboard... and is really quiet....and this is a tough bed. I have 6 dogs from 6lbs-73lbs who all take turns jumping up on it with me...so, I can say from experience that this is a a great product & well worth the money!!!!

Highly Recommend
Much better quality than previous pressure relieving mattresses by other manufacturers that we have owned. The air cells are made better, and tubing is thicker and attached in a more secure fashion than other mattress brands. This is our third pressure relieving mattress and pump system, and I can tell that this one is going to last longer than the others. The pump is quiet and works well, and the alternating function works better than other brands. My wife has been non-ambulatory for sixteen years and it is an ongoing battle to prevent pressure sores. This mattress has made a dramatic difference compared to others; I would highly recommend it.

Great pressure relief mattress for the price
So my old pressure relief mattresses pump died & hence I woke up in the middle of the night on the springs. I was already on wound care as I'm a Paraplegic with a history of pressure sores but at the time I didn't have an open wound on my hips or butt area so they refused to cover a new pump or even service the old one. That left me with little choice but to but a new alternating pressure relief mattress and pump. After looking all over online at outrageous prices, I finally came across this MedAir pump & mattress for much cheaper than the old one I had and yet this one has many more features and is SO MUCH QUIETER than my old pump. The old one was so darn loud that I literally couldn't sleep at night & it wasn't a line a white soothing noise but rather it sounded like a shop vacuum running all nt long. This MedAir pump is so quiet that you literally cannot even hear it. It also comes with a remote unlike my old one and the remote actually comes in handy for when you need to lower the amount of air in the mattress in order to change the sheets more easily. In the week between the time the old pump broke and when I received this new one, I wound up with a pressure sore on my butt. You know the same part that they refused to cover a new mattress bc I didn't have an open wound there, but during that week without an alternating pressure relief mattress & pump I got one and now the ins Co. still doesn't want to reimburse me what I pd for this one when they caused this to happen. So I'm annoyed about that but regardless in very happy with this purchase and so far so good. It's been a lil over 1 mth now and the pressure sore I got had since healed with the help of wound care. Wound care I was already in for a wound I had & still have on my ankle bone that i got from when they casted my leg after i suffered a fall breaking my leg tibia and fibula bones. All this prior to the old pump dying & yet the ins Co still refuses to pay for the new pump & mattresses. Anyway, I'm still very happy with this purchase and would recommend this product to anyone who is either bedridden or who has issues with pressure sores. This pump and mattress work really well and there are all sorts of different settings for different situations such as when sitting upright versus laying flat. Also you can click a button on the remote to make it max firm for when transferring out of the bed into a wheelchair. This mattress also comes with a CPR rapid release where you can deflate the bed in seconds. It also has a matter backup that will keep the bed fully inflated for 24 hours in the case of a power outage so that you don't wind up with yet another pressure sore. My old pump didn't have that option. All it had was an alarm that would beep repeatedly like an alarm clock as of you didn't already know their was no air left in the bed when you're laying in the springs. So dumb. Anyway, I absolutely would recommend this MedAir alternating pressure relief mattress and pump with remote as it also has individual & seperate tubes that are fully replaceable in the event that you get a leak in one part. That way you can just replace that one tube as opposed to having to replace the entire mattress. This is a very neat idea. Hopefully, I won't ever need to replace any of them but if I do at least I know I can.

Quiet?
The mattress was nice beneath me, but the pump just would not shut up. Even set for the longest period between cycling, it still made noises that sounded like someone knocking on the door downstairs. Drove me nuts all night. I finally resorted to inflating the mattress before bed, removed the hoses from the pump and capped it shut. I was able to finally sleep. So why should I spend this amount on what boils down to simply an air mattress. Item returned. I will find a conventional adjustable bed mattress that makes no sound through the night. Oh, and a side note: The remote only works while facing the front of the pump. Not usable while lying in the bed.
