Larger than expected
Purchased as a gift, I thought the doll would be smaller, opened the package and it was a larger doll. For the price I assumed it was one of the smaller ones, can't complain though, great price and a nice doll! Had no problems with delivery, product arrived on time and in good condition. Doll is very cute!

Nice dolls, disturbing pets
This review is for all three Enchantimals Huggable dolls. In general, I'd expected the large dolls to have more detail than the small ones, since they're bigger, but they have much less detail. The dolls, head to toeEars: Like the regular-size Enchantimals, the ears are separate molds and are glued firmly into the head. They are attached a bit high to allow room for hair around the ears. On my bunny doll the ears are too high, so the pegs attaching the ears are visible.Hair: All three dolls have soft, combable hair. The deer doll's hair is a bit sticky.Face: The faces are all open-mouth style like their shorter counterparts. The paint design is the same as the small dolls, except for the fox. The Huggables fox in general is based on the design of the first version of the fox doll, but the large doll has the face paint style of the second, third, and fourth versions of the small fox doll, not the first fox doll. The difference is in the removal of detail. The first version of the small fox doll had more detail, with bold lined edges; the large doll doesn't have that detail. The paint on all three dolls is fine except for the noses. The bunny doll has three smudges on her nose; the fox and deer doll each has a scratched-off patch on the tip of the nose.Neck and collar: This is where it gets weird. The large dolls all use the same body mold, with the scoop-neck detail. This looks fine on the deer doll, with the paint matching the mold design. However, it looks odd on the bunny doll, with molded straps where they shouldn't be. It looks even stranger on the fox doll. Instead of molding the high collar and ruffled sleeves, they changed her design to a sleeveless shirt with a collar, but even the new paint design is too high for the low scoop collar.Torso: The three dolls have smooth round bodies instead of the detail that's in the small dolls. This is most noticeable on the fox doll; the small fox doll has molded detail to match the V-shape of her shirt, with fold lines on the sides like most of the small dolls. The paint, however, is wonderful. The paint designs are the same as in the small counterparts, with the same detail, but in the large version the detail is more visible. It's interesting to be able to see the design larger, to see those details that aren't visible in the tiny print of the design on the small dolls. Most interesting is the intricate lace pattern on the white part of the fox doll's shirt. The toros has the same waist-indent for the smooth transition from tummy to skirt. The belly button dent that the small dolls have is not duplicated in the large doll, though. They do still have the butt crack indent in the back. The tails are similar to the small dolls. The fox tail still has a visible seam; the seam is somewhat understandable on the tiny doll, where it might not be possible to hide the seam, but I'd expected that they'd fix this for the large doll. The bunny tail is still a plastic lump, like the small doll, rather than a fluffy ball. The deer doll still doesn't have a tail (odd that Enchantimals always gives the female deer antlers but not her deer tail). Tail placement is just above the waist, like in the small dolls. Reviewers sometimes complain that the tails are too high, but they are not. The tails are exactly where they should be. (I always wonder, where do the complainers want the tails to be? In the butt crack? 'Cause that's where they'd be if they were any lower!)Skirt: The skirts are made of the same lightweight fabric and have the same size elastic waist as the small dolls. The printed patterns, however, have been scaled up to the size of the large dolls. The fox doll's skirt is more pink than orange, which is different than the small fox doll. The bunny and deer have skirts the same colors as the small versions.Shoes: The shoes are identical to the small dolls' shoes. As with the shirts, it's nice to be able to see the shoe details in a large scale that's easy to see. The only difference is that the small dolls have holes in the shoes so they can stand on pegs of accessory sets; the large dolls don't have the holes.Articulation: All three dolls have a bent right elbow and slightly curved left arm, the same as the small versions of the dolls. Also like the small dolls, the knees don't bend. The neck articulation is similar to the small dolls. The shoulders of the small dolls have ball joints; the large doll arms are also ball jointed but very stiff, so people who haven't played with the small dolls might not think to try turning the arms in all directions. The hip joints look the same but move a bit differently. The small dolls sit with their legs in a slight V-shape, but the large dolls sit with their legs straight forward. The petsHere's the only flaw of Enchantimals. The first generation of pets were fine. They were low-quality but cute. I expected these large versions to be the same mold since they're based on the first three dolls. The biggest disappointment was seeing that the animal figures are have the disastrous hole/clip design. Mattel's intent was that the clips would let the dolls hold the animals. However, in both small and large versions, it doesn't work. There is no way to make the doll hold the animal realistically; the pet hovers on the side of the arm like it's doing a magician's trick, and you have to adjust the pet in a specific manner to get it to do that. Most of the time, the pet swings backward or forward and hangs creepily. It either looks like the doll is carrying a purse made of a hollowed-out animal, or it looks like it's carrying a disemboweled animal by flaps of skin. Why disemboweled? Because it is. The pets have huge holes in the back, revealing the animal's hollow interior. Those holes only increase the purse-like look. I was looking forward to the large figures. I never expected that they'd have the horrendously disturbing hole/clip design.AccessoriesUnlike the small dolls, the large dolls come with a brush and a tiny comb. I assume the little comb is for the pet, but the pet doesn't really need a comb. The brush works fine on all three dolls' hair.SummaryThe dolls are fine but aren't up to the quality of the smaller Enchantimals dolls. Like I said in the beginning, I'd expected more detail in the larger dolls, but instead the detail is either the same or decreased. Even the shirt paint design is the same as in the small doll, just easier to see. And of course the pets are disastrous. I bought these new with damaged boxes at a discount. I'm glad I didn't pay full price for them. I'd value them at no more than $10. I still like them; they just aren't as good as I'd expected.I love Enchantimals and have all of the dolls and playsets. If you have any questions about the Huggables or any other Enchantimals dolls, just ask and I'll try to answer. :)
