Hanotic Joist Tape for Decking 5cm x 15.2m (2'' X 50'), 6 Rolls Weather Resistance Butyl Tape, Waterproof and Anti-Corrosion, Self-Adhesive for Wood Joists Decks Beams Roof Rv : desertcart.co.uk: DIY & Tools Review: Reliable, easy-to-use tape that really protects your decking - I’ve been through more types of decking tape than I care to admit, mainly because we live in an area with unpredictable weather and our outdoor wood structures take a real beating. The Hanotic Joist Tape has become my go-to solution — it’s practical, durable, and surprisingly easy to work with. I first tried it when we were renovating our deck last summer. Our previous decking tape had started to peel and let moisture in, causing a few small areas of rot that were a nightmare to fix. I wanted something that would last, be easy to apply, and actually prevent water from getting under the joists. After reading the specifications — weather-resistant, waterproof, anti-corrosion, and self-adhesive — I decided to give Hanotic a try. Application was straightforward. The tape is slightly firm but pliable, which makes it easy to handle, cut, and place precisely where it’s needed. The self-adhesive backing sticks immediately, and it holds fast without needing extra tools or fasteners. I laid it along all the joists before putting down the decking boards, and within minutes it was doing its job. Even on slightly damp wood, it adhered perfectly, which was a big relief. After a few months of sun, rain, and even a brief hailstorm, I checked underneath the decking — everything was dry and clean. No peeling, no water creeping through, and the wood remains in excellent condition. I’ve since used it for other outdoor woodwork projects as well, including a small roof overhang and a few RV repairs, and it’s been just as effective every time. The fact that it comes in six rolls of 5cm x 15.2m means I have enough to cover all the joists and beams I need, with a little left over for smaller projects. The rolls are easy to store, and the tape doesn’t dry out or lose stickiness even after sitting in the garage for a few weeks. Overall, this is a reliable, high-quality tape that does exactly what it promises. It’s waterproof, anti-corrosive, easy to apply, and keeps my wood structures protected. It’s not the cheapest tape on the market, but the durability and peace of mind it provides make it well worth the investment. If you’re looking to protect your deck, beams, or any outdoor wood, Hanotic Joist Tape is a product I’d happily recommend. Review: Hanotic Joist Tape - Easy to apply with good adhesion, no issues with the backing tape. Good quality tape.

Reliable, easy-to-use tape that really protects your decking

A good product!
Good quality of the top layer, waterproof as described. Stickiness is decent, when surface is dry and clean, so make sure you do your prep before sticking. Also where possible, try to use when temperature are on the upper end of the scale, because the tape becomes somewhat more rigid and less sticky when temperature drops below 15C. 10/10 would buy again!

Stuck well to the joists, seemed to be decent quality and was fairly easy to apply. No problems, hopefully it holds up!

Good product
Tape does what it says easy to install. Hardest bit is getting the backing off.

Very impressed
Great product - it was a hot day and the tape went down like a dream - no brealking of the backing film as previously mentioned and sticks really well - very happy.

It’s deck tape — and it does exactly what it should. I’ve used plenty of brands over the years, but this one stands out for its durability and easy application. The adhesive grips well and stays in place even during warm weather, and I really appreciate that it has a plastic backing instead of paper. The paper-lined types tend to tear or stick to themselves, which wastes time and tape. This one peels smoothly and applies cleanly, saving a lot of frustration. I’ve purchased this twice now for my ongoing deck project, and every roll has been consistent in quality. It provides a solid moisture barrier and peace of mind knowing the joists are protected. If I need more, I’ll definitely buy this brand again — it’s dependable, easy to work with, and well worth the price.

Didn't know that this was a thing for your deck construction. Sticks very good and leaves a good seal between the screw and the lumber. The only thing that I found annoying was the plastic backer film. I undertstand that this is neccessary to keep the tape from sticking to itself, but the film could be a bit thicker. It kept tearing as I was unrolling the tape onto the lumber. If you pull the film straight out from the roll then the tears are much less likely to happen. Great product and much lower cost than some of the other brands out there.

I have used this product on a few decks so far and love it! Provides great protection to top of joist and the ashes and “rubber” material adheres to the threads of the screws to provide a better seals vs the “old” way of wood on wood contact. My application on this project was for roof trusses on a pergola as the customer wanted a clear polycarbonate roof. It will provide extra protection against leaks down the road and it also helped keep the sheets from sliding down the pitch of the roof during install. The backing can be a bit frustrating to take off after being cut to length and has ripped if you get rushed when taking off. Slow pace is best. The adhesive is pretty strong and stays in place when applied. I have used other brands and it will peel off pretty easily. This one STAYS PUT! I highly recommend for its waterproofing/protection and adhesion when applied! I will definitely buy again!

Good product. Used several rolls of this on my deck. Strong and thick. Adheres well, however, account for shrinkage on the ends in hot weather and direct sun - will pull back about ½ an inch at both ends. Otherwise, would buy again.
