I have successfully tested these on aluminum, wood, acrylic, brass, and copper

Q: are the spiral bits spiralup or spiraldown? thanks.

By the picture they look like they are UP CUT bits.

Q: Can I use 1/4" shanks in the machine?

I haven't personally used a 1/4" shank, but I have seen people who claim this is possible.
