In a word, Yes. Firstly, the material that the grips are made out of will stain your doorframe. Secondly, the bolts on the bar that sits above the door frame are thicker than the padding on that bar, so the bolts will dig into the drywall above your door. You can work around or fix these things (some people are talking about wrapping it in socks where it meets the doorframe), but there's no reason you should have to rig up a fix for this kind of thing. Just buy a better pull up bar.

Also, the doorway needs to be between 24 and 40 inches wide and at least a foot away from any wall or corner, otherwise, your pull-up bar will not fit.
