Thanks for contacting Nature's Bounty! The Magnesium 400 mg Softgels (Prod No. 59408, B59408) contain Soy Lecithin, which acts as a dispersing, emulsifying or stabilizing agent. It is GRAS (Generally Regarded As Safe) listed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and is included in the FDA Inactive Ingredients Guide.

You can try to take the cap off and leave the bottle out for about an hour and that may help with the odor. I am not familiar with the 400 MG magnesium product. I purchased the 500 MG magnesium product. The ones I purchased are white, they are NOT softgels, they are a hard oblong shaped tablet.
