Good ration bars
They taste great, can be used as quick snack to regain energy if you have nothing else and doesn't actually require anything to drink alongside it. I always keep a bunch in my car now.

Excellent Emergency Food
You're reading the five star and one star reviews and wondering whom to believe. OK, believe the five star reviews. The low-star objections are not fair (unless they describe a bad batch). Some of them sound like the reviewer expected a hot tasty burrito and was disappointed to bite into a dry cake. Not fair: these are exactly what they are designed to be. So what to expect. These bars, like genuine hardtack, are very dry, and well sealed in vacuum, supporting the shelf life claims. The shelf life was important to me. I sampled one without any water and had no problem chewing and swallowing. Water or fluids at the meal would help though. The texture was like a hard cookie, like vanilla wafers only thicker. So not at all difficult to break off or chew. The flavor (describing here the coffee flavor) was very good, and the coffee one includes coffee powder in the ingredients, so while caffeine is not measured on the product label, expect a bit of a lift. Also as many other reviewers describe, the flavor is not overly sweet. There's 20g of sugar in the bar, and I'd prefer less myself. But as far as the flavor goes it's the right amount of sweetness, and if you really are in an emergency, admittedly the sugar can be beneficial. I have no criticisms at all really. I'd prefer the product be made in the USA, not China, but I have to admit that these are well designed, good tasting (no chemical taste or aftertaste at all), and very well and consistently made. Overall these are really excellent, and will last a long time on the shelf (or in the bug out box). Do not hesitate to try them.

Delicious Surprise!
Fabulous! I hate to say how surprised I am that these are as good as they are, but I loved them! I got the coffee flavor and dropped 1/2 a biscuit (individually wrapped in halves) into my coffee and let it sit for 5 minutes on a timer. I pulled it out and the outside was a little messy, but 5 minutes was the perfect amount of time for how I wanted to eat the biscuit. It held its shape and was still a little crunchy in the middle. A perfect morning biscuit with coffee and it's delicious! I'm going to try the vitamin flavor to drop into soup. There are other ways to soak, or crush and the biscuits, but this way is a winner for me! The package seal was perfect and although I trust the shelf life they probably won't last that long!

Close to the “Compressed Oatmeal Cereal Bar” found in MREs of the 80s and 90s
When I served in the military, we enjoyed a treat known as the “compressed oatmeal cereal bar” in our “Meals Ready to Eat.” I tried to find it on the web, but to no avail. However, this is the closest I could find to the original treat. It tastes similar, but not as sweet. Then again, it has been a while. Still delicious and memorable to when I had a field exercise and was lucky to get the infamous “compressed oatmeal cereal bar” in my MRE. Fit nicely into my cargo pocket for consumption later on. What a delight!
