Q: Do i need to use the disposable filter bag? or is it optional? (i'm just vacuuming out my car.) the instruction manual seems vague. ..?

My husband had the same issue and called the supplier. The filter bag is optional for dry pick up (you do not use for wet pick up). For example if you are tying to vacuum up very fine dust from a construction site the bag may come in handy. After talking with the supplier, my husband decided not to use the bags for the cleaning of the outside redwood deck, gutters, garage, car etc. He said to tell you bottom line you do not need the bag and not using it does not impact the shop vac. However he does not do construction nor is he a contractor. Hope this helps! P.S. This is a great product and we highly recommend it!

Q: How good is this vacuum at picking up water? Would this be enough to suck up the water that pools on my garage floor from my wet vehicles?

Yes, it works very well picking up water. It is far better than the Craftsman it replaced. And it has a convenient drain so you do not have to take the top off and tip it over to empty it.

Q: Can this be used to vacuum car interior?

Yes. I have used this many times to vacuum out my truck. The attachments are not as small as I would've liked, however, the suction power is so good that the vacuuming out a vehicle is so easy.
