Great paddle
The playability of this paddle is wonderful. It is a remnant of a time when the pencil grip was king. Love it!

Authentic paddle
Exactly what I wanted. Feels good in the hand, nice and solid. The rubber is thick and grippy. If you know how to use it, it’s very nice

Good for beginners
This is a great introduction for those looking to play table tennis with the penhold grip

Amazing racket for the price, excellent control!
Really great racket, even for playing competitively in tournaments. I've had a lot of success with this racket playing against people who are quite good. It is definitely a slow racket, so you need to hit a bit harder than normal, but the control is excellent, and if you smash the ball you can still gain quite a bit of speed and power. The rubber also has a "anti-spin" effect, which can confuse your opponents and force them to make mistakes. I'm very happy with this racket, even compared to my $250 custom racket. Great for beginners and intermediate-level competitive players.

Great for beginners/intermediate who want to practice Japanese Penhold!
I picked up this racket because I decided I wanted to play Penhold style, but was having some difficulty with a gripping a regular shakehand racket; so I wanted to try the radically different grip of the Japanese style, and see if that helped. And it did! It took some getting used to, but this racket is surely great value for the price point -- and allowed me to practice getting comfortable and experiment with Japanese Penhold style play.As a good bonus, the racket came with 2 40+ Butterfly practice poly balls (which are pretty decent practice balls! Not something you'd see in a tournament, but definitely good enough to practice with). That being said, for what it's worth, this is a 5-star item. For the price, it's a great intro racket into Japanese Penhold style for the beginner and intermediate player. It's not something I would use at the competitive level, personally, but if you were just getting started, you could certainly use this racket. (You'd likely want to upgrade the rubber, though)

Butterfly always!
When I was kid I used to own a Butterfly paddle. Loved it then. Now, much older and with a new ping pong table that came with sub par paddles I decided to check out my old favorite brand on Amazon. Saw one I thought was reasonably priced and was penhold. Bought 2 - one for me and the other for my wife. Arrived quickly and started playing with it for a few hours. Verdict : great! Brought back old memories of childhood with my Butterfly.Light. Well constructed (made in China). Love the cork back grip and handle ... soft to the touch. Rubber is great for control. Overall, great value for a paddle from a legendary table tennis brand. Recommended.

It is good for the beginner
It is a little bit heavier than regular paddles but it is good for the beginner at this price.
