Smooth and creamy pea protein shakes - game changer!
I use CMC powder to thicken my pea protein shakes ever since I had an allergic reaction to whey protein powder. Originally, I purchased a different brand on Amazon that didn't work well, but then I switched to this brand and it thickens the shake without tasting slimy. Guar gum also thickens protein shakes well, but it has a slime factor that wasn't appealing. This stuff (1/4-1/2 teaspoon per ninja container) thickens like its a whey protein shake - smooth and creamy. No clumps, no taste. Easy. I have no affiliation with this product.

World champ thickening agent!
I ordered this CMC powder to thicken up a ceramic glaze I had been struggling with to make brushable. Whoa, does a little go a long way! The instructions on the back suggest using up to 1% (in your foodstuff) so I diligently measured some liquid glaze, then some powder. After stirring, shaking, then whisking, I have a giant purple snot blob. Okay, take two: my glaze comes as a powder, so I tried mixing 0.5% CMC with the powder first, then adding water. The results were easier to mix, but I still have a gloop instead of a glaze. Third time’s the charm? I tried making up a 10% solution of CMC in water first. Good thing I started small in a large jar because I kept adding water to dissolve the globs until I ended up with about a 1% solution. Which eventually dissolved when left overnight. This is easier to add to my glaze, but *still* too thick. To summarize my adventure, use waaaaay less than you think you’ll need. I’ve heard it can become a petri dish if stored the way I have it, so keep it in its handy lil’ resealable foil package until you need it. I’ve gotta try it in food next since that is what food grade means… The quantity for the price is an outstanding deal. I recommend it for thickening off-label things too.

Very good, with a few minor quirks
I’ve been using this product for a few weeks now, and overall I’m quite impressed. It delivers on most of its promises, though it’s not perfect — hence my decision to give it 4 stars rather than 5. --- 👍 What I like 1. Performance / Quality The product performs reliably under regular use. It met my expectations in terms of durability and functionality. I didn’t encounter any sudden breakdowns or glaring defects. 2. Design & Aesthetics Its design is thoughtful and attractive; it feels sturdy and well built. The finishes look premium, and the overall construction feels like it can hold up to daily wear. 3. Features The features included (e.g. [list key features here — e.g. multiple modes, adjustable settings, connectivity, etc.]) are genuinely useful. I found myself using [feature X] more often than I expected. The instructions/manual, while not perfect, were decent enough to get me going. 4. Value for the Price Considering what you get, the price is fair. There are more expensive alternatives, but this product feels like a strong middle ground — not cheap, but not over the top either. --- 👎 What could be improved 1. Minor flaws / annoyances One thing I noticed is [specific issue — e.g. “the buttons feel a little stiff at first” or “there’s a slight lag when switching modes”]. Also, the [material / finish / joint / hinge / connectors, etc.] could be a bit more refined — in dim lighting I saw some slight imperfections. 2. Documentation / support The manual is serviceable, but a bit sparse in terms of troubleshooting or advanced tips. If you’re a first-time user, you might have to look online for clarifications. 3. Edge cases Under more extreme conditions (e.g. long continuous use, cooler/hotter environments, or heavier load) it sometimes struggles just a little. It doesn’t catastrophically fail, but you will see some performance drop. 4. Accessory quality / extras Some of the included accessories (e.g. cables, connectors, or extra parts) feel “okay” but not premium. They work, but I wouldn’t count on them lasting forever under tough use. --- 📝 Overall This product is solid, and for most users it will more than satisfy the needs. It hits the right balance between price, performance, and design. If the minor quibbles I listed don’t bother you (or can be lived with), it’s a very good buy. I’m giving it 4 out of 5 stars because while it performs admirably in “normal” usage, there’s a bit of room for improvement before it would earn a perfect rating.

Effective at thickening just about anything.
The bag seems a bit on the small side, but a little goes a long way with this stuff, and the seal of the bag as well as how flat it is actually ends up being quite convenient for storage, can just slot it in next to my recipes in the pantry. I tried using this in various recipes, including a gluten-free bread, a gravy for SOS that turned out a bit too thin and watery, and also in a couple soups and drinks just for the heck of it. In everything I used this with, it honestly worked very well and just fixed my problems in the case of too-thin consistency, giving a nice crumb and overall consistency to the gluten free bread I made with it, and turning some drinks into something like applesauce...well that wasn't so much a fix but it was amusing. I would definitely recommend trying this out yourself if you're looking for an effective thickening agent, or even if you just want to mess around with some chemicals in the kitchen!
