This Pagani Design Chronograph reference PD1718 has a very nice black finish and reliable Seiko VK64 chronograph movement as well as a "panda" dial. Everything works and it looks good, but I just don't think it's as good as it could be. It's got good specifications. All stainless case, screw down crowns - including the stop/start and reset pushers - sapphire crystal. It's got a good quartz movement made by Seiko and 100 meter water resistance. The lume is inconsistent with the hands being weaker than that on the hour markers. The finish on the case looks good and the dial is very handsome...with the exception of the hands which wouldn't have been my first choice. You unscrew the crown to set the time and you have to unscrew the pushers to use the chronograph function. This worked flawlessly with crown and pushers unscrewing and screwing in smoothly. The main dial has hours and minutes of course along with the chronograph second hand with a highly visible red tip. There are two subdials: the 60-minute dial at the 9 o'clock position and a 24 hour dial at the 3 o'clock. My biggest gripe is that there's no running second hand. When not using the chronograph function, there's no second hand running. The 24 hour subdial is an odd choice which I can't reasonably see any benefit from. The strap is kind of cheap. It's a rubber strap with a faux leather insert. And, lastly, there's no date on this watch - something common in the Seiko VK series movements. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of good features - the 100 m water resistance and the sapphire crystal in particular. But, I think there's better choices that offer more in the way of versatility.

This is not a Tudor, so I’m not going to rate it like a $5k watch. For the price you pay it’s well worth it. Great finishing on the case and bracelet. The bracelet on mine feels decent, it will not win awards but it’s perfectly fine (although it has zero taper which is odd). Crystal appears double AR coated and is very high quality. Dial is beautiful. Mechaquartz movement is very accurate. THE LUME. I couldn’t get a great shot of it but this is the best Lume I’ve ever seen on a Pagani. Wears beautifully and I very much enjoy it. Minor gripes: this is not size accurate to the Black Bay Chrono, and I would’ve liked it to be a bit chunkier like the watch it’s based on. If you have dainty woman wrists, it’s a great option. The ceramic bezel is more tapered/rounded than the BB as well, and seems a tiny bit out of place on this “tool watch”. But this is not a Tudor BB, so I appreciate that Pagani has made their own little design tweaks and overall it’s still a great piece. It sits proudly next to its Swiss brothers in my case.
