Stansport Cast Iron Dutch Oven

I love this little 2 quart size. It was absolutely perfect, just be aware that it is very small. I had a very tough time finding one this size. It has the handle, lid, and legs of the big ones but in the perfect size. The lack of seasoning does not bother me at all, especially since this is intended to be used directly with coals if you wish. Had some wax that had to be burned off, so you will want to do that outdoors. Not sure what else to say - this fit my needs perfectly and I would buy it again!

We don't always cook for a big group. So we wanted a smaller size dutch oven. This one works out just fine. The quality seems just as good as our Lodge. I have NO criticisms for this item. It comes raw iron, not pre-seasoned. But I knew that before I bought it. So I wiped it inside and out with shortening and baked it in the propane BBQ with the lid closed. It just took a little while to do and no problems.

Perfect size for camping. Big enough for two person meals. It's not exactly light however, totally hikable for short distances. Braised a small beef bottom roast to perfection. Does need to be seasoned.

This is wax dipped raw cast iron. You will most likely need to burn off the wax coating as I did. The best bet is fire up your outdoor grill/fire pit and let that coating cook off. I tried to use a stiff brush under HOT running water and it was not doing the trick.After you get it back to raw iron, go ahead and season like you were reconditioning old; look it up on Youtube. It’s a super simple process but best done again outdoors because there will be smoke.All of that being said, it’s super sturdy; a good cast, albeit rougher-than-Lodge; and a nifty little camp oven for the collection.I got mine as used-acceptable so the $23 was easier to swallow considering the amount of burning off & seasoning was involved.

Don't just order this and expect to take it on a camping trip. You have to properly season cast iron so that it doesn't rust or mess up the taste of your food. You have to smother it in oil and bake it in the oven until the oil soaks into the metal. It may take a few times, and this is best done at home in a conventional gas or electric oven, not at a campsite.

Excellent little Dutch oven. Had to season it twice before it was non stick but it works great. Took it camping the next day and whipped up a stew from scratch over the open flames and worked incredibly. The 2 qt size is perfect for feeding two people. Surprisingly lightweight as well. Would recommend to a friend.

Great Dutch Oven, Everything as described, Iv'e had lots of dutch ovens and this little 2 qt is the best for one or 4 depending on sides. Don't know why other reviews had problems, but mine is A OK. Super fast shipping w/prime. this is an out of box review, I'm seasoning it now , it will take all day to do it right for me. thanks , Buy One

The lid doesn't fit properly. I should have listened to the other reviews. I gave it as a gift and bought it early. If I would have noticed that it was defective prior to giving it, I would have returned it. Time ran out so I am SOL. Poorly constructed. BEWARE! the box was also beat up and not packaged well. STAY AWAY!
