If you’re upgrading a Delonghi machine, this is a great add-on. The fit was spot on for my machine and locked in securely with no wobble. Build quality feels solid and the bottomless design really helps dial in shots and see what’s actually going on with your extraction. It feels like a legit upgrade rather than a gimmick. For the money, this is excellent value compared to much more expensive portafilters. Totally worth it if you’re into espresso even a little.

The worst product ever. No matter how much coffee or pressure I put, is always a mess. It spills coffee all over the place.

Excellent portafilter. Fits my Delonghi machine perfectly. Any bad reviews for this product are either user error from people having no idea how to use a bottomless portafilter or they ordered the wrong one. I also have to wonder if those saying there are no quality improvements to the coffee taste have a clue what they're doing either. You don't just swap this in and go for it. You need to grind much finer make sure it's perfectly distributed, and make sure your extraction times are where they should be. If you're just using the same coarse grind and letting it shoot through this new portafilter in seconds with no crema no flavor and no extraction then you have no idea what you're doing and need to do some research. This is an excellent upgrade for espresso brewing and the resulting shot has much better flavor than the stock portafilter. There were no leaks and the portafilter is very well made and feels very durable. I've had a bottomless filter on my other machine for awhile and finally got one for this machine. I'll never go back to a stock pressurized filter

Update: I’ve been using it for a couple weeks now. Although the coffee comes out good, it is a bit messy. Coffee comes out in unpredictable streams, and when it’s done brewing, it drips a lot. Also, water/coffee sits on top of the grounds, so it drips and spills when taking the portafilter out. I spend more time wiping up than brewing coffee. I’m considering going back to using the portafilter my DeLonghi came with. Update: I received a replacement, and this time it was the right Portafilter - 2 ears, 51mm, fits my DeLonghi. What’s most striking is the smooth finish on the handle. It feels well sanded to a satin feel without feeling plasticky. The whole Portafilter is solid and heavy. Its simplicity is refreshing - no need to take apart baskets and gaskets, just unscrew the handle and you can throw the metal part in the dishwasher. The Amazon sticker on the box says 51mm…However the actual item is 54mm 3 ear bottomless Portafilter. It’s very nice heavy quality with comfortable handle. It seems like one piece so you don’t have to take it apart to clean it, which is convenient. The handle was barely screwed on when I first took it all out of the package. It’s nice to know you can wash it without the handle. I requested a replacement but I’m worried I might end up with the same wrong item if the FBA stock is all mislabeled.

This fit perfectly into my Delonghi espresso maker and is insanely easy to use (same process as before, just now you can see the flow). To me this did not immediately make my coffee better, but it does help to show you if you're not tamping correctly, or if you have voids in your puck. The wooden handle looks nice and it definitely feels better my hand than the one that came with it (it feels more weighty and solid). Cleaning seems a little better for me too as the OEM portafilter had channels that I could never really clean beyond rinsing and trying in vain to get a brush in there. Overall I'd say this is a great value if you are looking for a portafilter that lets you see the coffee as it's being made.

I bought this 51mm bottomless portafilter specifically for my DeLonghi machine, it looks great—the handle feels comfortable, and the bottomless design is appealing for anyone who wants to improve espresso extraction and diagnose channeling. Unfortunately, it doesn’t really lock in properly on my machine, despite being advertised as compatible with several DeLonghi models. It works, but it doesn’t feel stable or confidence-inspiring.

Very high quality portafilter. The weight and handle feel great. Everything about it screams professional quality. ... I just didn't pay attention to the "2 ears" part. /facepalm! My machine is a 3 ear, not a 2 ear, so this will not fit my machine... and that makes me sad. I want to be able to use this one. I love everything about it. So not being able to "use" this portafilter is absolutely on me, and not the product. I just need to try to get one of these in the 3 ear model, instead of the 2 ear. For as high end as this portafilter actually is, I would absolutely say that the listed price is a worth it. Good quality portafilters are worth their weight in gold, when it comes to espresso.
