Giant, beautiful TV
This TV is fabulous. The picture is gorgeous, fluid and bright. Right out of the box, it didn't require really any tweaking.I'm not particularly fond of the newest version of Google or Android TV, whatever they're calling it now. I've used an Nvidia Shield TV since 2019 when they came out and that implementation of Android is much better than this newest generation. It may be TCL's skinning of it, but I'm inclined to think it's more Google looking to suck our soul out with more advertising angles.I have been rather disappointed with some of the Play Store limitations I've encountered with this current version. Several apps I'm loaded on previous gen HiSense Google TVs are no longer deemed compatible, which is disappointing. That said, the interface is still pretty clean, this TCL performs better than any built-in Google TV I've seen, and it was simple to set up.I do not recommend trying to use Google Home to set the TV up. For some reason, it develops a connection issue toward the end of the process and won't complete, but doing it manually it works perfectly. I had this problem multiple times on this TV and the 65" version I bought at the same time, so I think there's an issue inside of Google Home, which I've routinely seen bugginess out of.The sound from this TV is rather surprising to me. While I paired it up with a Vizio MicMe sound bar, I wanted the karaoke functionality of that system, and I'm not using it due to the sound being inadequate on the TV. It is really nice for a flat panel. This is drastically better than my decade old Sharp Aquos for sure.Adding the unit to my network was super simple, no issues with it at all.Don't underestimate the size. This TV is gargantuan. Make double sure you measure the dimensions and be sure your VESA mount can properly handle a 600x400 hole spacing. We didn't have any issues mounting this, but this replaced a previous 85" television in this same location, so it was an easy thing for us. Mounting was easy, but don't skimp on the beef to lift it and get it on the mount, because it is a bit on the heavy side. One bit of design flaw I find with the hardware is that the remote receiver is rather sizeable and smack dab in the middle of the TV, which makes it impossible to use a VESA sound bar mount and put a sound bar flush up against the bottom of the unit. I found a workaround, but this was a bit annoying, especially when I've seen a number of large units now putting the IR receiver more unobtrusively toward the side (and smaller).Definitely recommend.

Decent budget QLED
The picture is really decent for a *non local dimming QLED HDTV. Using a Hisense 2.1 soundbar so can't say anything about speakers, yet some say there fine. If your moving up from dirt cheap tv the sound on this may be okay for you. If buying a sound bar get the 2.1 for better bass. I dislike the google interface due to not being familiar with it. I have Amazon app, with several add on features up and running. Also the TCL channels, you tube, antenna local channels and live channels as well as Stars and NETFLIX, what else is needed. Without Google set up I have no voice commands. My 4K DVD Blue Ray player showed up with no problems. Some have (few) complained that they couldn't get their DVD to show up. I figure one day I will get it (Google) set up as soon as someone who is teckie stops by. Picture on this flatscreen is really very good with brilliant color, black n whites. Picture adjusts itself thru the AIPQ processor, not much else to adjust, as it dose this for you 1st 24 hours of use. Price was great at $150 off or $248 for the 50 inch. My AMAZON Fire 50 inch, QLED died after 18 months, so buying a TV was not in my budget at this time and that is how I ended up with this unit, the cost. This TCL is a good price friendly budget QLED TV and well worth the price. Bought the insurance plan for 3 years. Seems now days HDMI TV'S are a throw away item? Only negative I have on this is Google and that may be a deal breaker for some buyers. I am just to use to Fire. Even without Google set up I have so many channels, movies, live tv that I am in no hurry to set it up. (purchased Jan 30 updated March14th 25 uped to 5 Stars)***Pro's (6) *QLED, *Excellent color, *Great black n whites, *Pre loaded App's, *Available channels *Low Price. ***Update JUNE 29th 2025, I set Google up and it was easy. Just need a Google email address and your cell phone #. Now able to add other apps like Tubi, Plex and more. Now my voice remote works.
