A little. Have you had peperoncini at togos sandwhich shop? It’s similar to that. For me it didn’t have much heat. But I eat cayenne pepper all the time. Someone who doesn’t eat spice, might find it very hot.

Is the jar supposed to pop when you open it, mine didn’t. Would it smell off if it was bad?

Not all lids make the popping noise. If I didn't see evidence of leakage or mold i would think the lid was likely sealed correctly. Honestly it comes down to a judgment call on your part whether you believe it was sealed or not.
