Update for January 2026: Dishwasher is still amazing! Don’t hesitate; just buy it if your home lacks a dishwasher. Future you will thank you! I only wish the company made a larger portable version. I would probably trade in for that if it has the same performance. Original review: Only a couple weeks into having this and I can’t believe I didn’t think of a countertop dishwasher before now! This machine is great! We just hosted a giant Thanksgiving dinner for family and this machine did wonderfully. If you’re thinking about getting a countertop, do it. You won’t regret it! We got a countertop dishwasher because we rent and I really didn’t want to spend money on a rolling dishwasher that could take up more space, and frankly, they typically have poorer reviews overall. It’s not large but it fits enough for daily loads for our family of 3. For Thanksgiving, we had many more people and it was so nice to load it while cooking and running it so that after dinner we had an easy clean up of what dishes we used to eat and drink. My Corelle dinner plates that I’ve owned for years fit perfectly in it along with many other things. Its small size also helps with counter space so we still have room to prep food, set out plates, etc. Because I simply don’t want to deal with a hose, we use the water tank option, which is convenient and opens up our sink for additional use. Set up was easy. Because of other reviews, I made sure the drain hose was facing downward in the sink basin next to it and just put our drying rack right over it to ensue it stays down for draining. Drains very well doing that! The heat drying feature works well and I really like the fact that it circulates fresh air for up to 73 hours afterwards. I’ve seen a few reviews about the smell of the dishwasher but I always use a tiny bit of vinegar in every load (along with a dishwasher pod), so I think it helps with the smell that can develop with plastic interiors. We also have fairly hard water so the vinegar (poured into the dishwasher, not the water tank) helps with that issue. Don’t use rinse aid in this dishwasher, unless you get a small rinse aid rack. With the small size, white vinegar is a better option since rinse aid is still a surfactant.

Okay. So I intentionally waited a whole year before writing a review on this portable dishwasher. I did this to make sure that I was able to accurately assess durability over time, as well as effectiveness. SPOILER ALERT--it still works just as great now as it did on Day 1. In fact, I'm using it right now, as I write this review.... Now I grew up during a time when parents would give their children something called "chores" to do. If you don't know what "chores" are, you're very lucky. Somehow, my daily chore was washing dishes. By hand. No dishwasher. I once asked my folks at the dinner table if we could get a dishwasher installed. What did I say that for?!? The reaction to my apparent blasphemy was immediate: My mom stopped, mid-chew, and gave me a look that could have turned Medusa herself into stone. My dad, seeing this, laughed out loud and answered [tongue-in-cheek] "Your mother and I already have 4 dishwashers--and we don't need to plug y'all in! Now. Go do the dishes. I'm sure your brothers thank you for volunteering, don't you boys..." That pretty-much settled the matter. Anyway, fast-forward about 30 years and I live in a rental apartment that-most unfortunately-did not come with a built-in dishwasher. To this day, hand-washing dishes is still my most hated house chore. So much so, that I would let dirty dishes sit in the sink for days at a time until there's no more room in the sink. Then, instead of washing the dishes, I would just stop cooking and get take-out everyday. All, to avoid hand-washing dishes, as though the dirty dishes would suddenly disappear, or get up and wash themselves, or something. And then, one day, my whole life changed! I know that sounds a little hyperbolic, but that's the only way I can describe what happened....I was browsing on Amazon [having totally abandoned that sink full of dishes, of course] and this wonderous invention appeared in my You-May-Also-Like thread. I was actually browsing for something completely unrelated, by the way. As soon as I saw it, my jaw fell to the floor. Phrases like "Why didn't I know about this?" and "Where has this been all my life?" came to mind. A portable dishwasher--who knew!!! The company that makes this just got a little bit richer, because that day, I hit Add-To-Cart immediately. But I consider myself a savvy shopper, so I made sure to read the reviews, the good ones and the bad ones, before I took that proverbial leap-of-faith. When it was delivered and I unwrapped it, it had condensation inside. DO NOT PANIC about that; it's supposed to come that way, as the manufacturer runs each machine through a full cycle for quality assurance just before shipping it out. I make a point to mention this, because some of the negative reviews were complaining about this, as though it were some kind of problem. In fact, the manufacturer has a video of this very process posted right here on Amazon. So, give it a watch. Now you can set it up to operate in one of two configurations. You can connect the dishwasher directly to your kitchen plumbing, or you can simply fill it with water manually by pouring water into it's top opening. Personally, I do it manually, since I live in a rental and I don't want to tamper with the plumbing, and I am definitely NOT a plumber, either. It uses only about 1.5 to 2 gallons of water for a complete load wash and rinse, as opposed to the nearly 10 gallons of water needed to hand-wash dishes in the sink. [Yes, I did compare water usage.] The dishwasher has several speed settings as well. I won't go too deep into that; it's in the user manual. But I will say this. I can confirm and attest that the dishwasher does also clean small pots and pans and skillets, as well as dishware and utensils. I mention this specifically, because I did not see anything about whether or not pots and pans and skillets could be cleaned. If it will fit inside the machine [even at an angle] the dishwasher will function. Then, I kinda went on a crazy cleaning blitz, and washed all sorts of things in there: All of those reusable plastic take-out containers I had accumulated; I took down the glass enclosure from the ceiling fan lights; the light bulb covers from the kitchen, bathroom, front and back porch; I even disassembled the chandelier and washed the glass pieces in this dishwasher. All came out bright and sparkly like brand new! Even the grease catchers from my electric stove burners came out clean! As for which type of soap to use, DO NOT use regular dish soap for hand-washing dishes, under any circumstances, as the resulting bubble-action will cause a malfunction. I cannot emphasize this more strongly [I learned this the hard way]. You MUST use dishwasher gel designed for use in dishwashers. I know that there are powders and even pods designed for dishwashers, but I have found out [from my year-long experience] that dishwasher gel is the most effective by far. So, think "Cascade" not "Dawn". When in use, the dishwasher itself is totally silent. All you will hear is the gentle sloshing sound of the water as the dishes are being washed. Personally, the sloshing sound is quite soothing to me; I have actually fallen to sleep listening to it several times. Imagine the sound that water makes when you are slowly rowing a boat on a calm lake. OMG! I didn't realize that I had written a book here; maybe it was the soothing sounds of my dishes now being washed for me that has allowed the words to come flowing! Well, my dishes are done. Oh, PS and by the way, It dries the dishes spotless, too! Enjoy!

2 days into owning this dishwasher, which incidentally arrived a full day early (!) and I am in love. I have not had a dishwasher for 3 years and I am so happy with this purchase. It took me a long time to pull the trigger, and I read review after review on every single dishwasher available before deciding on this one. I got the black glass door one. One thing that I noted was that the hermitlux dishwashers had far less negative reviews than other brands in the category I was looking (I needed a tank, couldn't hook up to faucet). Thank you to all the prior reviewers of this and other countertop dishwashers, you really help me make my decision! Since I have had this dishwasher, I've run eight loads and it has been seamless. I purchased a $60 stainless steel rolling cart for it because I don't have enough cabinet clearance, and I really didn't want to give up my very small amount of counter space anyway. This gives me the added bonus of rolling the cart directly into my hallway to run my dishes instead of trying to navigate my very few kitchen electrical outlets. I have two window air conditioners running at all times and I do occasionally have breaker issues in my apartment so this doing dishes in the hallway thing is working out very well. I have a collapsible bucket on the bottom shelf of the cart to collect dishwater, so easy! Onto the dishwashing, I've had a couple of things which were already stained not get as unstained as I would like but they were already stained so this was not a surprise. Everything else is coming out spotless! And so shiny. Clearly, hand washing was not going as well for me as I thought! I am using Cascade gel because I really just did not want to deal with any more research this week. This may change later on down the road but I wanted to get my dishes washing. In my estimation, this dishwasher can hold about a third of a standard dishwasher load but it's been awhile since I've had a standard dishwasher so I could be a little off on my math. The silverware situation annoyed me right out the gate so I popped the little lid off of the silverware container and haven't used it at all, which has caused no issue. I see people less happy about that little flip down rack not holding anything but I put all of my cooking utensils up there, and I also put my yeti-style lids up there. I love that rack! I'll probably learn more how to fit more dishes in there as time goes on but I'm highly impressed with how clean my plastic ware is getting, and it's really nice to be confident that my dishes are sanitized. So far I have used quick wash, standard wash, and strong wash on some of my grungier dishes and all cycles performed really well. If I allow it to run through the dry cycle which I really have been a little too impatient for, it does dry well. Plastics will likely still have water on top but that's that's it's something I dealt with on standard dishwashers. I'm single and still expect to be running this dishwasher daily because why not? It doesn't take very much water and it will be one less thing for my ADHD brain to deal with. Clean sink for the win! Speaking of my ADHD brain, this thing is also nearly silent. I can occasionally hear water slashing but that's about it. Even the notification beeps are very low volume. Since I am rolling the cart into the hallway to wash dishes, I pour three containers of water into the tank (I love the guide piece for it since I can't be trusted to pour water slowly), then I fill the container about halfway in case I didn't get enough in there and roll the whole thing down the hall. Twice I have not gotten enough water in there and the machine let me know so I was able to top it off with my container. I did purchase the extended warranty for 2 years because this was a big purchase for me, even though I do not normally buy extended protection. Tldr: This is a great machine!

I read tons of reviews before deciding to purchase. I've had this for roughly 2 months now. Although I'd love to have a full size dishwasher, I'm a renter and don't have a lot of space. I chose Hermitlux instead of the others since it has the option to connect to faucet (water line )OR fill with water. I preferred to fill the tank with the pitcher that was included. Very easy to assemble, and the 'quick' setting of 30mins works perfectly. After the 30 mins, there's an hour timer to dry dishes. It doesn't fit a ton of dishes, but perfect for a single person/couple. There is only one issue I wish they could fix. I'm slightly hearing impaired, and when you fill the water tank, the machine will beep when tank is full. However, the beep is very difficult to hear. It seems unlikely that you can overfill it though. You will see water coming out of drainage pipe (that you keep in the sink) if you overfill it. Happy with this purchase!

I have had this dishwasher for three months now and it works great! I use it daily. I have the model with a window and love that feature so I can see that everything is getting cleaned. As other people have mentioned, pouring water in the receptacle takes practice, because the design is such that water want to splash out. It does come with an adapter to address this problem but I can't use it because it won't fit under my kitchen cabinets. I have just gotten good at filling the water receptacle with care so there are no splashes. It should be plugged in while filling with water as it will chime when tank is full. It holds approximately 5 quarts or 5 liters of water. Every feature works effectively, even the drying opton. It's not too loud. I can watch TV just fine while it's running. The rack could have been designed better but I've gotten used to the way it's set up. I like the little pull-down shelf for cups or mugs. It has a top and bottom spinning sprayer which is one reason it cleans effectively. I just use Amazon brand dishwasher pods but any kind would work. A fruit cleaning basket is included and I place my fruits and veg that need a good wash in the basket with some vinegar. Works like a charm, doesn't leak, and is user friendly. I would recommend this product and buy it again.

Living in an apartment with poor water pressure led to the untimely demise of my main dishwasher's impeller, a situation my complex manager has unfortunately chosen not to address. Which led me to searching out for another solution that didn't involve me purchasing and installing another full size dishwasher and letting my rental agency line their pockets. This compact dishwasher has not only solved this issue but also brought a great deal of relief to my family, especially to my wife, who is on dialysis and thus appreciates the reduced physical strain of not having to wash dishes by hand. Here are my thoughts on it so far, after 3 week of use: Installation & Setup: Simple and straightforward, the setup was a breeze. This aspect was crucial for me, considering the need to find an immediate solution to my broken main dishwasher, and as I work 6 days a week as the sole income - didn't need or have the energy to get into yet another fight with yet another kitchen appliance. Design & Capacity: Despite its modest size, this little powerhouse holds a surprising amount of dishes. It's stylish too. It fits right beneath our cupboards on the counter. We do need to pull it out to fill it, but that's a mild inconvenienc.e Cleaning Performance: The dishes come out impeccably clean every time, which I was pleasantly surprised by, I was not so keen as to the machine's effective cleaning capabilities. I usually opt for the ‘Eco’ mode, which is both energy-efficient and thorough. For tougher stuff, I put it on "strong" and toss in an extra pod. I would recommend using pods against powder, despite the manufacture recommendation, as the powders seem to leave a residue. Haven't tried jet dry or anything yet, but maybe I will in the future if finances make me be a bit less bougie and I have to go back to powder. Noise Level: Its whisper-quiet operation is also impressive. Being almost silent, it doesn't add any noise stress, which is particularly beneficial in our living situation, as we have a rather finicky two year old. Heat & Drying: The internal heating mechanism not only cleans the dishes effectively (seen it get all the way up to 149 degrees inside; if you open the door during the cycle, it shows the temp inside on the screen, which is a nice safety feature) but also dries them quickly due to the residual heat, bypassing the need for an additional drying cycle, which I thought was pretty neat. It does have some kind of drying cycle, but you don't need to wait for it. The instructions say something about circulating air through it for 72 hours, but as of yet I haven't noticed any kind of whirring, maybe that's select models? Water & Energy Efficiency: Considering the water pressure issues in my apartment, I was again pleasantly surprised at how little water this unit consumes – about 1.2 gallons per cycle – without compromising on performance. I've noticed virtually no change to my water bill, despite running it daily. Ease of Use: The user-friendly interface, with its clear LED display, makes operating this dishwasher effortless. This feature has been particularly helpful for my wife, allowing her to manage the dishwashing process without any issues whastoever. Maintenance: Easy-to-clean filters are super easy to snap out, wash and put right back in with minimal trouble. Areas for Improvement: While the dishwasher is nearly perfect for our needs, fitting larger plates can be a bit challenging. Nonetheless, this is a minor inconvenience compared to the overall benefits it provides. I wish it came with a faucet adapter. Conclusion: The Hermitluxe Countertop Dishwasher has been a game-changer in our household. It has effectively addressed the unique challenges we face in our apartment, making life easier for my wife and me. It's been a significant improvement to our daily lives. I highly recommend it to anyone facing similar challenges or simply looking for a reliable, compact dishwashing solution.

I haven’t had a dishwasher in about 5 years. The places I’ve lived in that time didn’t have them in unit. I’ve been eyeing one of these portable dishwashers for a while, but had been a bit discouraged on price and set-up. But I’m prone to bouts of laziness and hate when I let the dishes pile up. This machine certainly elicits the bygone era of when dishwashers first hit the market and people were amazed at the convenience. This machine is definitely worth the investment, and was easy to set up. It packs a punch; my dishes have not looked this sparkling in a while! It heats up well and my dishes are dry. Works better than some full sized dishwashers I’ve used in the past. I use mine in tank mode since I still need access to my sink, but tank mode works great. It can’t wash any big items, like pans or big pots, but it does still hold quite a bit. Perfect for single people in apartments. Make sure to angle your dinner plates if they’re on the larger side. So far no errors, but I’ve only had it a few days, so we shall see how it goes. I do wish it came in a color other than white, though. Great product anyway!

Bought this a couple months ago and it has been run every day (sometimes twice). This little machine has really impressed me. Here are my observations: Gets the dishes clean. I've only ever had to re wash an item once and, to be fair, it was encrusted with baked on cheese and probably wouldn't have come completely clean in a full sized machine either. I use store brand dishwasher packs, no need for the expensive brand. I used the vegetable setting once (no soap) to wash a bunch of russet potatoes and they were the cleanest potatoes I've ever seen when it was done. It's bigger on the outside. Duh. But it surprised me how much of a difference it was. All the same, I am still able to fit a surprising amount of dishes in it. I really pack them in too but they still come clean. I still have to wash my pots and pans by hand, they're too big to fit, but I really don't mind having to wash a couple things and my sink is clear of dishes! Speaking of size, my kitchen is small with limited counter space. Even if it would fit under my cabinets (which it won't), I didn't want to give up precious food prep space so I purchased a small cart on casters. I just wheel the dishwasher over to the sink when I'm ready to run it. I feel like it would not fit under most cabinets in the kitchens I've seen. Measure carefully! I love that it has the option to fill it with water or to hook it up to the faucet. I always use the reservoir because my faucet has an odd shape that wouldn't work with the direct hookup. It's a bit of a hassle to fill, takes three of the pitcher that it comes with to run. All the same, glad to have the option since it wouldn't work for me otherwise. It fills at the top and comes with a tray/funnel which helps keep the water from running all over. It's not overly loud, neither is it silent. The noise doesn't bother me anywhere near as much as washing endless dishes day after day after day did. Or worse, not washing them and having a depressing mess to look at until I finally just do it knowing I'll have to do it all over again soon. The loudest part of the cycle is when it drains. It drains out of a hose attached at the back of the machine. I just put the end of hose in the sink and the dirty dish water goes down the drain. I'm very careful to empty that hose when it's done but I still always manage to drip some water on the floor somehow. I've had no real issues so far except that occasionally the top sprayer arm does not want to spin. It's like it trys to but there's not enough water pressure or something? So it spins for a bit, stops, spins some more. I don't know, it's not obstructed and it spins freely when I give it a twirl manually. The dishes still come clean so I'm not overly concerned. The window on the door at the front allows me to view my dishes being cleaned for me; which is a small, but real, delight. I love watching the sudsy water spraying all over my bowls, cups, plates and utensils. The chiming song it plays when it needs water or is all done always makes me smile. And, did I mention, my sink is clear of dirty dishes! Hands down the best present I've ever bought myself. It's not perfect, but I really love it.
