Q: why does Echo say this saw is for professionals only?

All top handle chainsaws are considered professional use only. These types of saws do not have the right hand grip and trigger (throttle) behind the power head. Instead they have them on top of the power head. This is ideal for professionals in trees dangling from rope or buckets in tight quarters. However it makes kickback much more dangerous. And many choose to one hand the saw (though manufacturers and safety regulatory bodies recommend against this or outright prohibit it).

Q: How much horsepower and torque does this saw make?

I don't know the exact numbers you can see all that just by going to the echo website, but I can say this. I have been using the echo top handle saws for 20 years in my tree trimming business and they are far better than other commercial saws out there, never have a problem with them bogging down or losing power during a cut.

It has a 1 year warranty for commercial use and a 5 year warranty for homeowner's use.

Q: what type of chain they use can be the one of the ones used by the sthil saws

A stihl chain can be used if a slight modification is made to the bar. It requires drilling one small hole for the tensioner peg.
