Perfect addition for a student of the Bible. Yet another avenue to research with "user friendly" vocabulary and search tools.

I like the challenge that comes through the writing..... the challenge to make your life count for God/Jesus by applying God's Word to your life. The author knows how to make the facts, accounts, history of the Bible come alive.

This is a book I have purchased several times and also gotten as a gift. It is so very useful for understanding the background and overall view of a book of the bible. I suggest it for every believer.

This copy replaces one given away to a young Christian. I have found this to be most helpful in the preparation of Sunday School lessons and in personal study. It reduces things to main points and is written clearly.

Basically a general introduction containing an explanation of the background and a summary of the content of each Bible book. Therefore its 2/3 OT and 1/3 NT. However, its more than that. It tries to relate the content to the Christian's life & theology and has lots of interesting sidebars giving extra information about people, places, culture, etc. Although from an evangelical publisher, it acknowledges other points of view, e.g. Is Jonah fact or allegory?I would recommend this book over 'The Bible for Dummies' for its more in depth coverage. e.g. Pauls 13 Letters are given 70 pages in 'Blockheads' and only 10 pages in 'Dummies'

Really enjoying this, I find the Bible difficult to understand and this is perfect.
