has anyone replace a primer blub without a hole with one that has a hole?,

You can not interchange the bulbs. The one without a hole actually pumps fuel and has fuel flowing through it when the engine is running. The one with a hole pumps air to atomize a small amount of fuel to help in starting the engine.
