Excellent coffee distributor, high quality materials, feels good in your hands, does the job.

I bought this recently for my 58 mm portafilter after I upgraded from a 54 mm espresso machine. I also owned the 54 mm version of this product for the 54 mm portafilter previously. The reason is simple - this is one of the best gravity distribution tools that you can buy at this price point. My favorite part about this tool is that I can use this on baskets with different depths without adjusting anything. This tool slides/adjusts height based on the contact point. The base seems to be coated and does not attract any coffee grounds. It is also, very easy to use - you just place on your portafilter and give the dist tool multiple spins. Although, one is sufficient I just enjoy spinning it. Take it off , blow the base just to be sure and put it back. It also seems well built and has some weight to it. I have owned other distribution tools, and this is my favorite so far. However, I wish this was available in other colors - like with a wood accent - but it's not. Black is the only color you can buy. Finally, it says its 58.5mm , but it works on a 58mm basket.

Well made and easy to use

As you can see in the pic, everytime I try to distrubute this is what happens. Coffee is never level in the basket and coffee sticks to the bottom of the tool. This is using the double basket that comes with the go. In fact I tried a different basket and the same thing happened. I had to try 3 times slowly spining the tool to get the coffee to be somewhat level. Didn't work for me. Customer Support got in touch and they were really helpful and tried to solve the problem and they also recommend a different distributor for my setup. Very helpful.

I've had distributors before, but didn't like them and I felt like they made my espresso come out worse, rather than better. But, I decided to give this one a try since I have the rest of the astra collection from mhw3bomber. I noticed a difference in the first espresso I pulled... for the better! Surprisingly, I saw a more even extraction after using it. I use thicker, high extraction baskets, so the espresso doesn't flow just from the center like most regular baskets. I noticed that there was more even flow from the entire basket after using this distributor. This is the only distributor I've ever liked, and I've had about a handful of them. The grounds don't stick to the bottom, it's easy to spin, and helps even out your extraction. I highly recommend this.

Been using this along with other pieces of the Astral series of products from MHW-3Bomber for several months now. As a barista who cleans a distributor like this every day I know how frustrating it can be if grounds get lodged up in the mechanism, but surprisingly I have not had any issues whatsoever. I constantly get an even bed of grounds that are ready to tamp and my puck prep has been made easier by this distributor. Materials feel very high quality, packaging was secure, and the 53.3mm version fits the portafilter for my Breville machine perfectly without leaving a layer of grounds on the sides. If you’re just getting started making coffee at home this is absolutely a purchase you should make early, as well as a self leveling tamper and I highly recommend this one.

This product is not a gravity distributor. The so-called ‘metal hurricane’ part doesn’t move up and down. Only a metal ring on the edge of the product moves slightly, and it exerts almost no pressure. As a result, the metal part drops directly onto the coffee and acts more like a tamper, whereas what we want is proper distribution.”

Most gravity distributors have a slow descent and look smooth in operation, this is the exact opposite. The levelling ring is loose and has way more movement than I like. Other than the weight this product in my opinion is horrible. Regret buying this 100% However. They promptly reached out to me to rectify the issue, I have to say- their customer service is unmatched.
