Quality Product for retoring Old or Worn Leather.
I own a 15 year old Lambskin leather jacket that looked beat up. My wife wanted me to donate it and buy a new one. After reading many different product reviews I settled on buying this along with the #1 Chamberlain's cleaner and conditioner. I'm glad I did. The product is easy to apply and the results are OUTSTANDING! When I was done, my wife thought I had bought a new coat. It looked that good. My 15 year old coat is now cleaned and conditioned and the water protectant saved my $50.00 if I had taken it to the local leather shop to do the same thing. I've also got enough leather milk left to last me for several years. As others have noted, that aroma of the product also leaves a very pleasant smell on the leather after it dries. I really like this product na d Chamberlain has a new customer for life!

Rejuvenated my boots!
This stuff is great! I unfortunately got my boots totally saturated with water. After they dried the leather was crunchy and an unpleasant texture to touch. They were almost grey in color a far cry from the rich tan/brown color they started as. I applied the Chamberlain's leather milk formula no. 3 on my boots in a thin even coat and worked it in there and literally gave the leather life back and really rejuvenated it. Giving it its soft and luxurious feel and its rich color back as well. I was pretty amazed and pleased. I plan on purchasing Chamberlain's Leather Milk formula no. 1 and 2 and checking out their other products. Thanks for a good product that does what it's supposed to do! Keep up the good work!

Thorough Review - pros and cons
I've had this product for exactly ten years. I think I used it on a cream leather bag once, that long ago and held onto it ever since. The large purse pictured is my most beloved one ever but it has seen better days. Several rounds of water damage, abuse and more and I just couldn't use it anymore. I have cleaned and "conditioned" it with Chemical Brothers products but it stayed dull, hard and too brittle. It lost its softness and I hated it, even though I love the bag. So, I used this product as a last ditch effort to save it, I had nothing to lose. Using the pad that it came with I worked it into the bag, these pics were taken after 24 hours. It is noticeably softer although still has a little bit of a greasy feel, which I think that will go away over time. The texture is a world of difference but as you can see with the comparison to its brand new, untreated little brother purse (and sections I had a harder time reaching), it definitely darkened the leather. I don't see it lightening, this is what it will likely look like forever. I may have applied it a little heavy, not sure? (again, I have nothing to lose here) So, it worked for my goals - to softens and treat it. But it worked with a cost of the color, so beware if you are trying to preserve exactly what you have. I would imagine it takes differently to various types of leather/color...

Recommended for treating better leather...
We own a small leather-working studio in Friday Harbor, WA and used the water protectant to treat a handbag we wanted to soften and make a tiny bit darker. It definitely made the leather a little darker because it soaked in and is designed to treat or just plain protect, like lotion for leather. I like the consistency, as it's easy to use/apply. They sent along a cotton applicator that works nicely. There is virtually no fragrance/odor to it (I was a little surprised). The leather soaked it up, and is now not quite as dark as when first applied, which stands to reason. I will use this on my boots and if I rode a motorcycle, would be fine using it on my heavy leather stuff, but I recommend to test a section first to make sure that you like the effect. Chamberlains backs their product, and from my experience is responsive and a very quick ship.

Very good product. Excellent customer services
Seems to be a good product although I am writing this in the spring and won't be able to tell if it is really good until the winter (I live in an area where there is no rain until about October). Very, very good customer service. It seems that I applied too much product on my new leather jacket and complained like this: "I did use the product on my beautiful, new Cole Haan leather jacket (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JELS5J4/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1). I have no doubt that it is good for the leather and waterproofs it. But the product has left a nasty, white film/residue all over the jacket. This is not good. Please, what can I do?" Got a very useful reply back: "We'll get this fixed up nice and clean. From the sound of it, I'd wager the leather couldn't absorb all of the conditioner that was given to it. After some amount, the wax began to clog up the pores and the remaining conditioner was left on the surface. I'd buff off all the residue you can with a soft cloth, and perhaps use a leather cleaner or a small bit of rubbing alcohol on the rest. The most important part is to clear up the pores and let the conditioner run its course. Apart from that, it should be able to take care of itself - leather's resilient like that. Let me know if that works for you. I could take a week for the jacket to return to a balanced texture. Finished leather has a protective film covering that inhibits conditioner from absorbing quickly - this is excellent for weather and spills, but makes it very easy to overcondition. To avoid this, I'd recommend only using a little conditioner at a time - only as much as the jacket will absorb. Once the conditioner stops absorbing, buff off any residue and let the jacket set overnight." I would buy it again. But be careful not to apply too much of the product!

Fantastic.
I live in Southeast Alaska, so I get a lot of rain and snow, and while Saddleback guarantees their leather to be waterproof, I wanted to take extra precautions. I was very hesitant to buy it and try it due to the reviews saying it darkens leather, and the fact that no-one had posted pictures of the chestnut color. I own a Front Pocket backpack in Chestnut and absolutely adore the color, so I wanted to keep it that way. After getting rained on for about a week, I decided it was time to take the plunge, and boy, was I glad I did. It turns out, there was nothing to be worried about. I'll try to post some pictures of the before and after, but I really didn't see any difference whatsoever, and now the thing can hold up during a torrential downpour. I gave it the shower test and water beaded up and rolled right off. Top-notch stuff. Concerns: -For those people wondering how it smelled- I couldn't smell it at all. -The pad that came with it seemed to be of high quality, but I would recommend rinsing it/ washing it first, as there were some fuzzies/strands of cotton that dotted the leather during the treatment. -It comes in a squeeze bottle, which was a huge relief to me. The consistency is a little bit runnier than toothpaste. I think the instructions could use some work. It doesn't tell you exactly how much to put on, so I ended up drenching my bag in the stuff. No biggie, it just made my bag softer. -It says allow 15-30 minutes setting time. I recommend letting it dry overnight. -Also remember to clean the leather beforehand, or like me, the treatment will be a little splotchy in some areas. -One last thing- some of the dye rubbed off of the leather onto the pad. Not a huge concern to me, as the bag remains untouched, but that's just my experience.

Happy with the results, so far
Love the product so far! I have a large leather backpack that was pretty scuffed and starting to get worn out, but after a single coat of the product it already looks great! Also used it on several pairs of boots, ranging from newer boots to hopelessly old & falling apart boots. As others have noted, it did darken one pair of boots a little bit, but I anticipated this and don't mind. It's pretty clear though that this stuff won't work well with lighter & untreated leather. It doesn't appear to enhance the shine of the leather, or to dull it either. I haven't had an opportunity to test how well it works as a water protectant, but so far I'm willing to bet my boots & backpack will hold up pretty well... I look forward to continuing to use Chamberlain's Leather Milk on all my leather products going forward. Also, as soon as my order went through, I was promptly contacted by the company via e-mail. They offered directions & advice on how to use the product, as well as an invitation to reach out to them with further questions.

Perfect!
When I saw that this is the only product that Saddleback leather recommends, I knew that it was the right one to trust for my new AllSaints leather jacket. Saddleback is serious about their leather! The applicator that comes with the package was perfect for applying the product, and it was easy to distribute evenly on my jacket. It was surprisingly moisturizing for a waterproofer, and my leather still feels soft and supple yet any water that gets on it beads up and doesn't soak in. I've already used it on all my leather boots and a leather purse! The other great thing about this product is the smell, or maybe I should say the lack of smell. Compared to a lot of other leather care products it has almost no odor. A little goes a long way, so the bottle will last you forever. Give it a try!
