Evans Drill Bit Key

This is the perfect tool for drum head screws. If you work with drum heads it works perfectly if you use a ratcheting "T" handle driver, or chuck it in a power drill for a quick removal of screws or a quick replacing of the same. I would recommend not using it to tighten or torqueing it down with the drill method, but getting it close and then use a drum key for final adjustments.

This thing is an amazing time saver if you’re a tuning perfectionist, like me. You can use it to quickly get all of your tension rods up to the same tension, and then fine tune with a TuneBot. It’s typically accurate enough to get every lug within 2-3 Hz of one another.The lowest tension settings may still be too high if you have really floppy floor tom heads, but it works great for “normal” tunings, including snare reso heads which are typically super tight.One thing to note is that the “clutch” does not fully disengage when you’ve reached the set tension. The plastic part will click out of position to let you know to stop, but you can’t just keep cranking it like you can with a torque wrench. It’s not a big deal, you just have to be careful to twist it at a reasonable speed so you don’t miss the click.

Basically a torque wrench for tuning drums. There is a small dial on the underside that you sent as desired, then crank the key until it clicks. This, and a tuning app I use on my phone, really helped me get a better tone out of my drums.

I LOVE how this key works. Reason for 4 stars is that I have owned 2 of these and they are not consistent with each other at all! I wanted to have one in each of my drum bags but it's difficult because of the inconsistency. On one key I like my snare to be at about 6.5. The other key 6.5 is equivalent to about 4 on my first key that holds the 6.5. The third key needs me to set it at about 9 to be the same as 6.5. I'll have to label each key with something to let me know which one I'm using. But ultimately I was sticking to my first key but have now misplaced it, so it's been a little frustrating having to learn a new key again. Aside from that, once you get your settings to where you like them it's very quick and easy to tune. Just don't lose it or you'll have to start over with a new key with totally different tensions. I know, drummers not losing keys is the long standing joke!!

What a useful, and cool product, the people at Evans had taken a tool that is so mundane, that it's given away in most instances, well they made it proper, now you know when to stop, the Evans Torque drum key TELLs you. Accompanied by all of there other mindfully manufactured products, it's great to have in my band...It's indestructible on top of being a highly functional tool, I'm going to use it with my RC cars.Great to tighten their wheels..

Pude afinar bien mi instrumento

No Dislikes. Perfect size not too small and not too big like the magnetic Remo drum key. The nubs at the top allow for perfectly even finger tight. I also found since the keys are so easy to grip I was able to get much more even movements when doing two key tuning.NOTE ABOUT MAGNETIC: I was reluctant to get these keys in the past simply because they were magnetic and that would make it more difficult to take the keys off each lug when trying to quickly get to my next tension rod pair. I was wrong it is the perfect amount of grip to avoid falling when quickly spinning from the nubs to release the rim and replace heads, but still be easy to pull of each tension rod.

It's a great drum key.

Adjustable, absolutely amazing when everything is as close to perfectly set as possible. Every single torque on my drums was slightly off, immediately reset everything and what a difference.This is one of those 40$ dollar gimmicks that's actually amazing and worth it.Perfect tuning every time.
