Dreams: The Many Lives of Fleetwood MAC

An incredible story, brilliantly told!
Dreams is a must-read for any Fleetwood Mac fan, whether you’ve followed them for years or, like me, have only discovered their music more recently. The sheer amount of information provided is incredible; in fact, if it wasn’t so skilfully written, it could almost risk becoming overwhelming in places (due to the complex nature of FM). Thankfully, each tiny detail has been expertly and meticulously weaved into the fabric of the story, allowing it to flow smoothly from one chapter to the next. I think you could read it 10 times and still pick up something new each time! The other aspect I love is the brilliant (and refreshing) use of short chapters. This makes it delightfully easy to binge-read and simple to navigate if you want to go back over anything. All in all, it’s a fascinating insight into one of the most diverse bands of all time. Whether you want to increase your own FM knowledge or you need a thoughtful gift idea for someone who loves music, you will not be disappointed with this book.

A good Fleetwood Mac book - at last.
It's long past time we got a good book about Fleetwood Mac. With their huge long standing popularity, and complex personal history, one would have thought this would have happened a long time ago.I thought Mick Fleetwood's book a real disappointment, to put it mildly, and the one by Lindsey's ex-girlfriend only spanned her time in that relationship and not really about the music.Mark Blake takes an interesting approach, dealing with each member, or release, at a time rather than begin with the Blues Breakers and end with Christine's passing. I found this odd at first, each chapter having its own individual time span. A bit "cut and paste" maybe. But it works, and I really enjoyed it.I still think the definitive Fleetwood Mac book hasn't yet come along. But in the meantime, this will do nicely.

Different Approach
Dreams is different from other music biographies I’ve read - - shorter chapters, funny anecdotes and profiles of the musicians, even the ones i had never heard of before now. But by the end i had learned so much without even realising it. Also made me play Tusk again. I don't quite share the writer’s enthusiasm but it’s better than i remembered. *****
